Simple Thing a Cast Member Did...

I've traveled to Disney a whole lot since May 2011 and certainly have had a whole lot of pixie dust thanks to Cast Members, from little things that we just really appreciated, to amazing things that I never expected would happen, so here are a few of my stories!

On our second trip, we were walking down Main Street after rope drop, and my friend stopped to grab a selfie pic with Chip as all the characters from the opening ceremony walk down Main St at that point, and Chip actually handed him two fast passes for Splash Mtn for later that day! There were four of us in the group, and when we went to go on Splash, we rode standby, then went to use the fast passes, and had the discussion on who would use them, and we were all being "no, it's okay, I'll ride later, you two go, no, you two go" and the CM at the fast pass entrance overheard us and approached us with two other fast passes for Splash valid for right then!

In Sept last year I took my 63 year old mother for the first time, she had been to DLR years and years ago, but this was her first trip down to WDW, and she certainly caught the bug. During the Move It Shake It Celebrate it she freaked out over Baloo being out there, and when the dance party began, she proclaimed she was going to go dance with him. When she tried to, there were a million semi obnoxious kids around Baloo (you know the type] that he was preoccupied with, so she kinda lost enthusiasm but kept dancing, only to be pulled right into the middle of things by Timon! He kept her in there the ENTIRE time, dancing along, showing her what to do, getting her to pass off her bag to me, and just paid complete attention to her! When they got ready to go backstage he blew tons of kisses to her and even did the "call me" sign! I'll never forget that moment because he really did make magic, there were tons of kids that he could have danced with but he chose my Mom instead, and she got to live the magic, ugh! I tear up thinking about it!

She did later get to dance with Baloo over at AK at their meet and greet too!

Later on that trip, my BFF joined us and we had a meal over at Tony's that was less than impressive, but the service was outstanding, we spent half the meal talking with our server, Shelley, about various things, disney magic, auditions, FLE, and because we had been so chatty and friendly she brought us out free ice cream at the end of our meal! We knew she was moving over to BOG when it opened, so when DBFF and I went back last month, we kept an eye out for her, and she actually recognized us, and ended up paying more attention to us than our actual server, and made sure to bring out the Grey Stuff for us too! We've stayed in contact and are now facebook friends!

On the same Sept trip with DBFF we had an amazing meet and greet that we didn't think anything would happen. We joked about asking to meet the Dream Along with Mickey dancers, as we both dance, and would love to be dancing for Disney someday, and our minds were BLOWN when we talked to a CM and they made it happen for us!

We've also had a bunch of little things, like the amount of "happy birthdays" and blown kisses from characters during parades to Paige when she had her birthday button on, and parade performers at the Move It Shake It catching confetti and passing it over to us when we were trying to catch it. Down to CMs at AoA foodcourt being amazing and addressing us "princess" and letting us swap out bacon for fruit, the front desk CMs being super helpful when we were supposed to have been moved rooms during the day but it didn't work, and while he escorted us around the resort, told us a bunch about the backstage Haunted Mansion tour the CMs do, and how many hidden mickeys/jacks there are in there. I also lucked out and got a very special dance from Dale during the Tomorrowland dance party because I know a very special friend of his who was hanging out with him that night.

The amount that cast members go out of their way to create pixie dust, and keep Disney a happy place is amazing, I appreciate absolutely everything they do, from small to big! And the amazing ones will always make up for the not so great ones that you may run into, and the small things really do count! pixiedust:

That's great! My kids love the dancers and some would much rather meet them than the characters; next time we should ask I guess! I'd love to get a pic with the trolley parade guys (I would guess there's considerable overlap in performers, but I love those costumes ;) ).

I am reading through all of these posts, beginning to tear up to a lot of them! I wanted to say thank you to everyone who posted these stories! I am going down to WDW to do the CP, and am reading this as a learning tool so that I can help to be the best I can and truly help bring the magic to everyone's vacation.

I guess I should share a story though....so when I was younger, me and my older brother we floating around the lazy river at TL. There werent alot of people at the time and me and my brother were goofing around. A lifeguard stopped us and told us how we should be more careful. Thats when his replacement came, so he jumped in and floated around with us until he had to get out *guessing it was near where he had to go*. Anyways he didnt do it to supervise us, but rather he joined in on the fun and fliped our tubes and didnt mind getting his flipped XD .

It truly was amazing, and the dancers were impressed and very appreciative that we actually wanted to meet them, because everyone's always all about the characters in that show. Heck, we were telling Tiana and Naveen all about it later and even they were blown away haha.

On a particularly long day in the parks my kids were a bit tired and were cranky making dad :furious a bit cranky. My daughter was crying as dad wanted her to finish the dessert she got as not to waste it. The CM Truth was her name brought out cookies for the kids to decorate thus diffusing a potentially ugly daddy:)

8 of us at the GF needing to go to the Poly for the luau. Figured we would take the boat, but nobody got off at the GF (they were all going to the Poly I guess from MK) on mutiple boats. Monorail way too long, so we start to walk quickly so as not be too late. We see a CM in a multi-row golf cart that had just made a delivery. We tell him our plight, and he tells us all to get in and drives us right to the luau. He was awesome.

We were in line for Buzz Lightyear Wednesday night & the Fastpass line wasn't moving at all. The drums playing constantly were just too much for my son to handle so we excused ourselves out of the line. The cast members at the entrance asked why we were going & I explained he was getting sensory overload but it wasn't a big deal and we'd be back later or we'd try tomorrow. Instead, the girl told us to follow her & she walked us all the way around the building, took us in through a side door to bypass the gift shop and they put us on the ride immediately. Then when we were leaving, I saw something in the cup holder of our stroller. It was full of Buzz Lightyear stickers :)

We just got back 2 weeks ago, and one thing that my kids still talk about was 'getting an elevator all to ourselves'. One night we (my 2 kids, my 2 nieces, me and my BIL) decided to go on the ToT since there wasn't much of a line...the usual 13 minutes. My DH and DSis were too chicken so they stayed behind. When we got to the elevators, the CM saw how much fun we were having as a group, and she whispered to us "do you want to have an elevator all to yourselves?" She told us to say 'pretty please' which we did, and she gave us the whole elevator..even though there were several people behind us (not many, but enough to fill the rest of the elevator). It was the best picture. We are all in the front row and we have our arms in the air, and it's just us! It was cool! She was a great CM to give us such a magical moment!

Just started reading through this thread, and the same thing happned to us on a trip with my Stepson and his girlfriend, her first trip. The CM saw how much fun she was having on the ride, and it was pretty slow during EMH. She led us to the CM elevators and took us back up over and over. We rode 5 times in a row and it was capped off with this private ride! Good times...

This was something super simple but I did my first ever solo trip last September for the ToT 10 Miler! On my arrival day I hopped a bus to MK right after I arrived at AS Sp, around 11something I think and I was the only person on the bus! The whole ride over the bus driver was super nice, and super friendly, and kept up a great conversation! Really got me off to the right start traveling by myself!

My DS who was just barely 3 during our last visit, is not shy by any means. He will talk to anyone with ears for hours on end if given the chance. He's also quite the entertainer. He kept trying to have long conversations with the characters he met even though the lines were long behind him, and not wanting to peeve anyone off behind us, I kept rushing him and trying to explain his turn was over. When it was his turn to meet Lilo and Stitch at AK, he kept on and on with them, talking, hugging, kissing, posing.... we had watched all the others in front of us be filed through quickly and I was saying "come on! There are all these people waiting and we need to give them a turn too." The CM who was with Lilo and Stitch must've fell for his charming act and she turned & looked at me and said "He's fine. This is his time with them, let him enjoy it." She continued to let DS have "his turn" for what seemed like had to be 5 minutes while a huge line behind us waited. I felt really awful about all the people waiting, but that CM just made my son's day giving him that extra time. (And I'm sure she probably took a lot of flack for it from some of the people who were behind us when it came their turn too)

I'm only on page 7 of this thread but I had to jump in and share our magical moments. There have been many but here are a few:

2006 year of a million dreams (or wishes? Can't remember) it was the first trip for DH, DS9 and DD6. We were eating dinner at The Plaza when our waitress came over with a set of identical Tink pins. She explained that she had one set to give away that day and that DD was so well behaved that she had chosen her. The catch was that DD had to share one with someone else in the park. We left the restaurant and walked outside for Wishes. DD chose a little girl her age to share with. She was so excited to be able to share some Disney magic! Also, after waiting in line for Ariel, we got to the front and were asked to wait so Ariel could join the parade. When she came back, she and Eric spent extra time with DD, complimenting her long hair and bickering with each other over what to call her comb/fork.

2009: Daisy flirted with DS at Tusker house- she even kissed his cheek! We were there for my birthday, which also happened to be Thanksgiving. We went to MK that day and got birthday FPs! The best part though was during the parade. It was as packed as I can ever imagine in the park (it was Thanksgiving day after all!) a CM in the parade somehow noticed my birthday button, he bent down (he was on stilts) to wave to me and say happy birthday! Many other CMs noticed and also waved going by. Also, we met a CM in AK, who walked through the exhibit with us, explaining extra facts about the animals and interesting stories about Disney- he spent about 15 minutes with us, even looking for hidden mickeys with us!

2012: DS (now 15) was wearing a Dr. Who shirt. A CM on HM noticed and struck up a conversation with him about it. Several other CMs on other rides also commented. He was glowing, as if he was in a secret club or something! It was amazing how they found a way to connect with him and make him feel so special. Also on this trip, Baloo bowed his head to me and kissed my hand and Pocahontas called out both DH and DS to come get their picture with her.

This is why we keep going back. Thanks to all the CMs that make our trips (and so many others) so special!

In 2011 we went to Disney for my mom's 60th birthday. Our last day there was on her actual birthday, unfortunately it was also when Irene was blowing through. My mom is afraid to fly so she had taken the train down. But all of the rest of us were flying out. She had to stay two more days. We (her children) paid for her room and Disney comped all of her food.

I went to DL one day with a friend and her baby. I had been very sick and this was kind if my wish to go before I got even sicker from treatments and a very uncertain future. We had quite a difficult morning as at first the friend brought a wagon like stroller to roll the baby in and was told by many CMs she was not allowed to bring it in the park. ( my friend is not the most patient of people ...and it was a bigger deal since her baby had a medical issue preventing her from being able to sit in a normal stroller.)

We finally get past that point, get to the front where we check in and were incorrectly told the wheelchairs ( which I needed for stamina issues and strollers) were located inside the park when they were really outside the gate. At this point...I am trying my best to calm down my friend Who is jut wanting to call it quits before we even began.

We finally get settled into the park and my friend stops into the bathroom ranting and complaining leaving me outside in the wheelchair by myself. I guess a CM had seen the stress I was enduring in my face and my wish that I had never agreed to the trip( was holding back some forth coming tears) when someone came up behind me and covered my eyes. They let go and I quickly saw that Mickey Mouse was behind my wheelchair and gave me a nice kiss on the cheek and a hug! A huge smile spread across my face, and even though the other CMs kept telling Mickey it was time for him to go( he was right by the CM only exit for his break) he shook his head, sat down on the bench beside me and waited for my friend to come back out. Also, it was nice since the CMs understood right away and kind of kept other families and children away from us which I thought was remarkable and kind. My friend came back out with the baby who also received a kiss...and my friend got a pat on the shoulder making her a little happier.,.and a little less judgemental the rest of the day :

:goodvibes

P.s. haven't been back to DL with that friend...but she has never mentioned it again that she didn't like it. That is magical in itself!

This happened for us too! Love this ride!

So this was from my first visit to DW in 2000! I was about 7 but seeing as I lived in Alabama I had heard the "I come from Alabama with a banjo on my knee" song my whole life lol. So we're meeting the Mad Hatter and he's chatting, asking my sister and me where we were from and stuff. We tell him we're from Alabama and without a pause he looks at us funny and says "Are you sure you're from Alabama, I always heard you people had banjos on your knees!!" Hilarious moment and my mom still laughs about it even now!! The MH is really just awesome!!

This topic came up in my family just a few weeks ago. I went with my nephew in 2005 when he was just five and he was really Into pirates and wore his pirates bandana the whole trip. We were at animal kingdom watching the parade when Mickey started pointing at my nephew's bandana and giving him thumbs up, basically saying "cool bandana". Now my nephew is 13, and beyond cool....and he asked me if I remembered when Mickey did that. He said he still thinks that's the coolest!

I'm so looking forward to my trip this October with my four year old nephew! Can't wait to see the magical things that happen with him!

I agree with the PP's who say this is what keeps them coming to Disney. The atmosphere and the people really make it the most magical place ever!

This was Many, Many years ago. I am not even sure if they still could (or would) do it.

I was at Disney by myself, staying at the contemporary and I went to Blizzard Beach. The next day on my day of travel, it was 4am and I was checking out to leave for the airport and I woke up with a really terrible sore throat. So bad I could barely breath out of it.

I asked the manager at the check out desk if they had any medicine like Dayquil that I could take for my plane trip back as I didn't think I would have time at the airport and the shops in the hotel were closed. He checked, but they didn't have anything.

Instead, he got out his keys and brought me up to the shop. He openned the store, and told me to grab what I needed. I picked out some cough lunges and a daytime medicine. I asked how much, but he told me to just take them and feel better.

it's a small thing. It cost them next to nothing to do that, I am sure. A few dollars that with their costs they probably never even noticed. However, I have ranted and raved about it for 20 years and been a very loyal member since - and that experience is one of the reasons.

So they definately made their money back, I would say. :-)

While reading these it brings back all my Disney memories. My hubby and I were walking through AK and stopped to get pictures with king Louie and baloo. The photopass photographer was great and kept getting us to do silly things after the characters "left". After getting home and being in the depressed we're not at Disney anymore mood, looked through our photopass pictures and found tonnes of pictures where baloo photo bombed us. Standing behind us in the trees giving us bunny ears, hiding behind trees and being in silly poses. Even after getting home from Disney the magic never stops when looking at those pictures. That's why I spend my hard earned money there and no where else.

On our first disney trip together, DW (then fiance) and I were walking into MK to start our vacation. Neither of us had been to DW in at least a decade. She was wearing a tiara and walked up to get her bag checked. The man, who was in his 60s or so, said "Come this way princess". Well that did it. the rest of the day, trip, and our life I'm regularly reminded of how she's a legit princess.

My friends who have never gone have no idea how much fun it can be as an adult. The magic isn't just for kids!

This....same thing happened to me and my hubby on our honeymoon at the MK. My response was, " see I told you so".

There's too many to count (that's why we love Disney!), but I don't think I've shared this one from our last trip before...

My husband and I had been enjoying Extra Magic Hours at Epcot one evening, and as we were making our way out to the front of the park, we decided to swing by the Seas to ride Nemo.

It was nearly empty. We walked all the way through the queue, and came up behind just a small group of teens getting on. There were maybe three people behind us. The cast member told us to stop and said, "Let a few cars go by empty. I'll make sure no one gets on after you, and the two of you can have a nice romantic ride together all by yourselves."

I can't remember what we said besides, "Thank you!" I suspect I did a lot of blushing and giggling.

And it was a very romantic ride, too - we held hands and snuggled and sang along. My husband still talks about it as one of his favourite moments from the trip, when we had Nemo all to ourselves.
