My DD5 has expressed an interest in helping out in the kitchen/creating tasty treats/etc. I am planning on creating a cookbook for her to add recipes to for Christmas (yeah, I know 15 days - but I only have to print the recipes now!). I have purchase a really nice 3-ring binder type book with sheet protectors from Hallmark that I really like and now need some recipes to fill it. My family has a couple (literally a couple) of recipes that are family secrets that I will include but wanted some easy recipes I could print out on nice paper for her and add to the book before giving it to her...I don't want to give her an empty book! I love the binder angle so she can add, remove, rearrange, recipes over time as she grows and experiments on her own.

TIA! :goodvibes

The cookies from cakemix thread is a good source. I always make fairy cakes with my DS's, recipe below

Easy fairy cakes (makes 18, easily increased)

2 eggs, weighed, and an equal weight of
Soft butter or margarine
Sugar
Self-raising (cake) flour

Topping
Icing/frosting
Sprinkles

Put the first four ingredients into a large bowl, remembering to remove the eggshells!. Attack with an electric handwhisk (starting slowly so as not to splash) or a wooden spoon and lots of energy, beating the ingredients until well mixed (no visible flour or bits of egg). If the mixture seems very stiff (will not fall off spoon or beaters even when tapped) mix in a spoon or two of milk – it should be soft and light, but not floppy or pourable! Spoon or dollop into cake cases lining bun or muffin pan, and place in pre-heated oven 190°C/Fan 170°C/350°F for about 15 mins until well risen, golden and springy (top bounces back when pressed gently).

Place on wire rack and try to let them cool without eating them. Top with frosting and sprinkles of your choice. NOW you can eat them!

You can also stir chocolate chips or raisins into the mixture, flavour with cinnamon or vanilla, or replace one tablespoon of flour with sieved cocoa powder.

Since she is only 5 how about real simple things like:

Making spaghetti

Spaghetti sauce in the crockpot

Rice Krispie treats

Pancakes or french toast

Baked Macaroni & cheese

More easy recipes.

Mashed potatoes.

Puppy Chow

Chili Mac

jello cake (white cake with jello soaked into it, topped with cool whip)

Punch

You might also search familyfun.com or foodnetwork for kid friendly recipes.

Easy Peanut Butter Cookie-

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp of vanilla

Mix together and bake at 350 for 18 min.

Very easy and very good!
