Simon is my 14 yo DS and this is in reference to another thread regarding Myrtle Beach places to stay. I just don't want to get screwed by the realtor before my trip- at least anymore than he already has screwed us

hey i'm definitley not related or know dean we have a trip planned for august 14th..at cayman villas. where are you guys staying? Right now we've been googling him and all the guys i've spoke to...googled phone numbers...alot of things don't add up with him. How has he screwed you so far...we haven't been "screwed" but things seem extremely shady with him. We have a large group of 18 with children and all and we are just afraid of having no place to stay. Any info would be greatly appreciated....i haven't gotten a lot of sleep in the last couple days and i cried myself to sleep because i'm the one that booked this. The only reason i found this discussion is because your post pops up when you google his name!!!

we rented a condo through him in FEb for this upcoming week. everything was okay until I paid the final (huge chunk) payment. I never heard from him. when I finally e mailed him and inquired he said he never received my check. It was cashed and I emailed him a copy of the cashed check. then I hear....nothing. I called him and he says the accounting dept is looking into it and I hear nothing for days. I emailed him again and get a response that says- sorry that property was foreclosed upon so you can't rent it. I might have another place I can get you in to. keep in mind at this point it was less than 3 weeks before our vacation. It took him over a week to send me pictures of the "new place". It looks decent but not up to the standard of what we rented- it is also 10 miles away. also the original place had 3 pools,lazy river,etc-new place has 1 very tiny pool that is 4ft deep and next to the parking lot. It has been like pulling teeth to get info from this guy. this week I sent an email it said- are linens included?what are the bed layouts? and how to we get in? he responds-"linens are included." at this point I want everything in writing. so it took about 10 more emails to get the answers to 3 questions. I am going to file a complaint w/ BBB (which he happens to have an F rating with) after our vacation.Iff you have booked with him you may want to look into other options if you have time. Unfortunately we did not. My sister thinks he was using a bait and switch deal because the pictures of the 1st place and the price were awesome.

I feel for you- we have 3 families going- 14 people including kids we are now going to be at coconut grove. I will let you know how my trip works out. good luck
also if you could please not inform him of this or suggest he google his name until after August 7th I would really appreciate it

so i'm confused did you rent at coconut grove through him and how has he ripped you off. Of course i will not mention it and i doubt he's looking. Are we going to have a problem you think??

sorry i missed your first response. Unfortunatley we don't have time. We leave in 2 weeks and for the amount of people we have i can't really find anything that's in everyones budgets. I haven't heard anything yet about getting a new place. So how are you guys getting in to the place by the way??? Are you going to meet him at all? There really wasn't any flags to me until i didn't hear from him after my check was cashed, but honestly he's been nothing but nice to us. Seems young, calm talker, insists everything will be fine. Have been searching for any info and i really haven't gotten any, BUT the original guy i dealt with Darin Epps...and back then this was on VRBO, has been arrested and will be prosecuted for Mortgage fraud so that's why i got to wondering about all of this. All we have is a code to get into the house. My husband i are so worried that one of us will be heading down this week or next to meet him and see the place..(if it's possible we can get out of work) i also have a girlfriend that lives down there and she's working on it for me. Next time i definitley know to stick to the big realtors and also pay with credit card...it's GUARANTEED then. I learned my lesson and my nerves are shot!

yeah -our original place is no longer on VRBO. he wanted us to meet the cleaners there at exactly 3o but we are driving from NY so now we have a phone number to call. I am still very worried.I feel he ripped us off because we would not have paid for the place we are now going to be staying in. way less amenities and this one sleep 14 where the original slept 21. Also we are now going to be in North Myrtle Beach-10 miles away. that is ok with us but the teenagers are not so excited. my thing is he doesn't seem very apologetic. It seems like maybe this is his first time doing renting -but I know it's not. I suggest you keep all correspondence and get everything in writing.

well keep me informed PLEASE! if there's any way you can post on here once you get down there let us know. Save us the drive atleast. I wish you all the best i really do. He really could be new at this...he's young. id say 22 or 23. All we have is a punchpad code to get in to ours which seems strange to me. We're having him send a receipt to our mailing address. All i have is a bunch of emails and the policy and procedures he emailed me.

that's funny they still advertise those on their webpage. Also they created that webpage just a few months ago. Like i said theres been quite a few red flags now that ive looked into it. Just hoping hes young and doesn't know what he's doing!!! When i spoke to him on the phone he said they just opened a linen service and a cleaning service on top of what they do that's why he had trouble getting back to me. Anyhow again keep in touch!
