DH and I were at POR on the Silver Plan from 11/12-11/19. We actually paid $68 for 1 wish restaurants/tours and $136 for 2 wish restaurants.

11/12 Fulton's - 2 wishes/person - $182.32 - saved $46.38
11/13 Artist Point - 2 wishes/person - $148.85 - saved $12.85
11/14 Rainforest Cafe - 1 wish/person - $158.49 - saved $90.49
11/15 Bistro de Paris - 2 wishes/person - $148.23 - saved $12.23
11/16 Hidden Treasures tour - 1 wish/person - $94.40 - saved $26.40
Le Cellier - 1 wish/person - $153.71 - saved $85.71
11/17 Rose and Crown - 1 wish/person - $92.65 - saved $24.65
11/18 CRT - 1 wish/person - $91.11 - saved $23.11
Portobello Yacht Club - 2 wishes/person - $219.06 - saved $83.06
11/19 Tony's - 1 wish/person - $96.01 - saved $28.01

So we saved $432.89 by using our wishes. We will use this plan again, although I think we'll stick to more 1 wish restaurants.

The only problem we had was with our tour; I checked our charge statement the night before we checked out to find that they had charged us for the tour rather than using our wishes. This was quickly corrected by the helpful CM at guest services. You could avoid this by not putting a cc on your room key, or just keep an eye on how many wishes you have left. If some are missing, check your charge statement.

We used our choice feature for a round of golf at Fantasia Gardens. Probably not the best value for the choice feature, but we had a blast!!

Any questions? :D

You did very well with your wishes. If you use them wisely, you can really come out ahead on them. I had the same problem with a tour I did when I used wishes, and they quickly took it off as well.

Thanks for the review! We are thinking of doing the SP next time.

Are there any thinks on the menus that are off limits when using a wish ie no lobster entrees, etc?

11/14 Rainforest Cafe - 1 wish/person - $158.49 - saved $90.49

If you don't mind me asking, what did you both order to make your bill at the RFC total nearly $250??? Or did you spend $158 (and saved $20)?? Even at $158, what did you guys have?

Also, did you love the Hidden Treasures tour?? I've heard good things about it.

The more I read people's experiences with these plans, the more impressed I become!!

Polyherewecome, I don't know much about the Wishes meal deal but what I got from her post is that the Wishes cost $68 for the two of them to eat at a one wish restaurant so the total bill at RFC was $158 making the savings of what she paid (cost of 1 wish for 2 people, $68) $158-68=$90. How the bill got to $158? Appetizers, any alcoholic beverages, lobster entree, and 2 desserts or 1 volcano. RFC is not cheap!

Thanks so much, that's just what I was looking for. :cheer2:

There's only one restaurant where we've found something that's been off limits, and that's the surf and turf at Yachtsman for some reason. A lot of times, they'll add a lobster tail or filet (at Fulton's) or other things that aren't on the menu. One thing that definitely is not included is alcohol, for that you'll pay more.

At RFC we spent $158. We both had shrimp cocktails, surf and turf, bananas foster and the chocolate cake, smoothies, and cappucinos. Add your tax and tip and voila a huge bill;)

We both enjoyed the Hidden Treasures tour, I posted a review here:

HTH :D

Wow, I had no idea that RFC even offered such high-end stuff. Your meal sounded G-R-E-A-T! Thank you for sharing!

Only just noticed that the other poster who wrote about using the Platinum Plan was also you, diswedwish! So you were silver from 11/12-11/19 and then platinum 11/20-11/23. And then something else post 11/23?

You sure are a good advertisement for successfully using these plans. Would love to do the same, but everyone in the room has to get the same plan, and with 2 young children, YIKES, the costs >>> benefits. Maybe another time, though . . . ?

Thanks, again, for sharing!

Yep, plans can be good things to have for some people :D I do think Disney makes a fortune off of people for them though... On our Platinum Illuminations Cruise there was a family of 4 sharing our boat, they were also at the Poly. They were telling us some of what they had done, meanwhile their 2 little ones passed out during Illuminations they were so tired. We couldn't imagine how they managed to save any $ or have a good time on it!

We spent the night of 11/23 at Pop. Quite a change of pace, but we didn't get to our room until past 11 pm and were picked up at 6 am, we needed to save a few $ somewhere!!!

Thanks for reading :D

i'm a little bit confused, maybe 'cause i do not understand wishes yet! (please help the slow girl!)

basically, on the silver plan a wish comes to $34 each? ergo, two wishes (one meal for two people) = $68? i don't see how very many of the offerings would be cost effective... yeah, luau or hddr is a "bargain" when using one wish, but crt is a rip-off... is it all a matter of balance? did you save money every time you used a wish?

how many wishes does the silver plan offer for a seven night stay?

thanks in advance...

I think the key is to do as much research as possible before the trip. You could use a wish for a character breakfast, but none of them come close to costing $34.00. Dinner at the steakhouse in the Yacht Club Resort can be well over $68.00.

If I decide to go with the silver plan, I'll map out how to use the wishes before we get there. I think that will keep us from wasting them.

You can definately save money every time you use a wish, if you plan it right. Keep to paying cash for breakfasts, though. And don't restrict to using them for food - there are a lot of great activities you can take advantage of.

On the silver plan, you get two wishes per person per night. So 14 wishes per person for the week.

You have to also remember that your wish also included tax and tip! So the buffets you actually save some money. By the way RFC has very good lobster! I thought it would be just okay, but it was GOOD!

It all depends on what you 'wish' to do at Disney.

You can get along really cheap if you are happy just going on the rides and eating regular meals, etc. Forget the silver plan.

But if you arent a ride person, and like higher end meals, and want to do all the other great things that Disney offers, it will cost and wishes helps a little that way.

So its all about what you want to do at Disney, and how you eat.

I hate to burst everyone's bubble, and correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the Silver Plan no longer an option. Didn't it disappear (aside from those already booked) when MYW appeared??

Yes, it did. This is an old thread from Nov. Seems like someone found it today and replied. :confused3

Phew... glad I'm not going nuts!!

Actually, if you scheduled your vacation before Dec 31st...you still had the option of 'wishes.' We just recently switched from the Silver Plan to the new MYW w/ dining options plan. But there are still some people who do fall into the old silver plan. :)
