reservations4five,
My family just returned (yesterday) from a weeks stay at Silver Lake Resort. We booked through SkyAuction and got a really good deal. Our 1-bedroom unit was located in the 900 building on the top floor. FYI, the 800, 900 and 1000 buildings are the newest and comprise the "Silver Points" section of the resort.
The Goods:
*Our unit was nice and well equipped for a 1-bedroom.
*King bed was very comfortable.
*Pool areas were nice and clean.
*Location to Disney (very close to Animal Kingdom).
*Small resort makes getting around easy.
*Grounds are very well kept.
The Bad (minor):
*Room key cards (horrible, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't)
*Water at the main pool was freezing during our stay. Not a big deal (temps were in the low 90's), however the water temp at the pool next to the 900 building was much more enjoyable.
*With the exception of the pool areas (they are immaculate), some areas of the resort (carpet in building hallways, entire game-room, 900 building elevator had graffiti-like markings all over it) are starting to show their age. To Silver Lake's credit, there seemed to be a lot of renovating going on.
*No dvd players in our unit (not sure about the 2-bedroom units) and the television reception in the bedroom was pretty bad for some reason.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. Disney Ella, out of all the off-site resorts that I have stayed at, I would say that Silver Lake Resort favors Cypress Pointe Resort in both size, amenities (both nice main pools w/ other smaller pools) and location (CP is very close to Downtown Disney).
