Silver Lake Resort

First off... WOW...

When dh and I walked into the resort lobby... We were surprised... walked right up to the counter and checked in 5 minutes total... Was put into 9103 but asked for a higher room... and was given 9403 top floor.. were able to see fireworks every night the staff at Silver Lake were very friendly and nice Anyway... we had a one bedroom unit ... the bathroom was big... shower and large tub... washer and dryer the works... the grounds at Silver Lake what can I say... beautiful...the pool both pools were great... the main pool was the greatest ....no slide but very big... there is an island in the middle of it but do not sit on it.. the pool bar had good food... 675 for chicken fingers (no fries) that's the only thing that I wasn't too happy about.. the food prices were very high.... good specials though.... the hot tub... be very careful... hot hot hot.... no place to eat on site there but plenty of places close by that you can walk to they had some activities for the kids and kereoke (I know spelled wrong) by the pool bar... Oh and by the way we took the tour and hubby bought into RCI....

I dont know if I should be happy or not...

Suzyq9241, do you know if there was Internet access in the rooms? If you have stayed at any other off-site places, how does Silver Lake compare?

YAY! I am so glad to hear a good review. I looked at the reviews on tripadvisor and was impressed. So I thought I would check here on the trusty Dis Boards.

My DH is leary of staying off site. Who knew I would turn him into a Disney fanatic with one trip. :confused3

I am trying to lure him over to offsite...

reservations4five,

My family just returned (yesterday) from a weeks stay at Silver Lake Resort. We booked through SkyAuction and got a really good deal. Our 1-bedroom unit was located in the 900 building on the top floor. FYI, the 800, 900 and 1000 buildings are the newest and comprise the "Silver Points" section of the resort.

The Goods:
*Our unit was nice and well equipped for a 1-bedroom.
*King bed was very comfortable.
*Pool areas were nice and clean.
*Location to Disney (very close to Animal Kingdom).
*Small resort makes getting around easy.
*Grounds are very well kept.

The Bad (minor):
*Room key cards (horrible, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't)
*Water at the main pool was freezing during our stay. Not a big deal (temps were in the low 90's), however the water temp at the pool next to the 900 building was much more enjoyable.
*With the exception of the pool areas (they are immaculate), some areas of the resort (carpet in building hallways, entire game-room, 900 building elevator had graffiti-like markings all over it) are starting to show their age. To Silver Lake's credit, there seemed to be a lot of renovating going on.
*No dvd players in our unit (not sure about the 2-bedroom units) and the television reception in the bedroom was pretty bad for some reason.

Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return. Disney Ella, out of all the off-site resorts that I have stayed at, I would say that Silver Lake Resort favors Cypress Pointe Resort in both size, amenities (both nice main pools w/ other smaller pools) and location (CP is very close to Downtown Disney).

Thanks, Mudd77! I've stayed at Cypress Pointe, so that helps.

We own at Silver Lake and have never had any problems other than a broken outlet we didn't need to use. We stayed in the heated pool most of the time as the larger cold water pool was too much for me. Was nice to have it so close! The maintenance staff was always there within the hour to take care of anything we needed. (extra towels, bedding etc) Silver Lake does have the back entrance that leads just minutes to Animal Kingdom so that is reallly nice for days you go back to the room and then go back to the parks later! (less traffic) Haven't tried any other resorts down there yet. Definitely get your own food, there is a walmart not too far away as well as a brand new Super Target! :cutie:
