Hi, we r AP holders and got 6 trips last year (hooray!) All on property stays. We just renewed our AP's for our 2nd yr of usage. We also are RCI owners, so we had 2 banked weeks that we needed to use. When we go to Disney, we prefer to stay On property, BUT, it just wasn't sensible to let these RCI weeks go to waste. I have currently booked a wk stay at Silver Lake since the reviews say it is really close to AK. I also have an August wk booked at Wyndham Bonnet Creek. I see lots of pics and info on WBC (thanks, u guys ROCK!) But, was wondering if there is any info on Silver Lake?????? Thanks, so much. Am worried about these 2 trips and hope they r just as magical as staying on property. Am trying to set my mind at ease.

We haven't stayed there but all my research indicates that Silver Lake is really nice. As long as you have a car you'll find you can get around much quicker and more comfortably than the WDW Buses. We think you will love it!

Silver Lake gets a :thumbsup2 from us :)

We booked my parents there for a week.
They weren't able to drive, needed a full kitchen, and to be able to have shortened days at the parks.
We would pick them up in the mornings, and scoot them back when they had to leave.

So very close, very nice...and super budget friendly, ie, an "RCI extra vacation".

Have fun, you'll love it!
:)

We stayed at Silver Lake when they first opened and had a really great time. The condo is a 5 minute ride to WDW because it is west of Lake Buena Vista(no traffic to fight). If I remember correctly you can see MK fire works at 9pm from the condo.

It's been a few years but we really enjoyed Silver Lake. The pool was very nice and it was set back off the strip so it seemed much more quiet.

i find this hard to believe - it's a long way from the MK...

Charles,
This post was not for you,but I will be more specific, Animal Kingdom is .08 miles from Silver Lake and if you can't drive .08 miles in 5 minutes, you are a very slow driver. if you don't believe me(which you don't) you can Google it for yourself!

We stayed at Silver Lake in October. We used to stay there all the time but then they started to have maintenance issues. We were relieved to find that the resort seems to be back on top of things and we were really impressed at their efforts to improve the resort.

The rooms are very different depending on whether you stay in the towers or the 3 story walk up units. In my opinion, the worst building is #4 which backs up to Sherbeth Rd. Anyone driving by can look right into the rooms at night if the drapes are not drawn.

They are completing their renovations of the 3 story units. The tower units are small (there is only about 2' of walking room by one side of the bed and no nightstand), but other than that, they are nice enough.

The rooms aren't as plush as others in the area but perfectly comfortable. I hope you are staying at Silver Lake the first week because it will not compare to Bonnet Creek.

Some tips:

Bring slippers - the units have tile floors
We bring our own sheets - theirs are not very soft
The rooms in the tower facing the pool can be noisy

As with any timeshare, if you don't like the first room you are given, ask to be moved.

we'll be in a 2 bedroom at Bonnet Creek in April, and then in June SIlver Lake and then in August back at Bonnet Creek but in a 1 bedroom.

We have a 1 bedroom 6/4 booked for Silver Lake. I called and spoke to someone about these rooms. He said that they are the nicest rooms on property. That basically they are around 1450 sq ft. And instead of putting in 2 bedrooms, the developer put in 2 living rooms. Each one has its own TV, but one has a 50 inch Plasma. It also has 2 bathrooms. He said to make sure and request building 500, as these were the newest.
Does anyone have any pics of these units????

We stayed at Silver Lake several years ago, but it was really nice and comfortable. We had a great time.

I have been to Silver Lake numerous times. My nephew owns a timeshare there but I have gone by myself many times footing the bill. If I stay at the Villas, I ask for a ground floor room as I use a walker and cannot climb steps. The 1800 building has elevators.

I have stayed in the 1800 Building 2-bedroom condos.

I have stayed in the villas 1-Bed Royale. Tons of room but not easy to get as they have very few of them and they are in high demand. Well worth it though.

I have also stayed in the 1-bedroom villas Unit 512

I have stayed in both the 3-bedroom and 2-bedroom villas.

I can post pictures or email pictures if anyone needs me to.

Where are the weeks you own located? As long as they are not in Orlando, you can also exchange them with RCI into the DVC resorts. I'm headed for the Wilderness Lodge Villas in June.

Great information! We're staying at Silver Lake Resort for a few days before we go to OKW. From the pictures and reviews on the RCI website and Trip Advisor, it seems like a nice resort.
