Silly things you didn't know before you went to DW

Like Dan, I had no idea WDW was so HUGE! And I also never thought I'd fall in love with a place and plan my trips years in advance! We've been to the beach, the mountains, Busch Gardens/Williamsburg and they were nice and I wouldn't mind going back, but it seems like my mind is always planning our next trip to WDW. This summer we're heading West to Vegas, Grand Canyon and Disneyland, but summer 2005 we're heading back to WDW and I can't wait!!

I knew IASW was a ride, but I also thought it was the name of a whole section of kiddie rides. I'm not sure how I ever got that idea.

Me too. I was 8. Honestly, looking back, I was depressed after we returned home and I thought you could never go back. I'd had my shot and it was over. Bad thing was, I had experienced the "magic" of Disney, had a bad case of Disneyitis and needed the cure. Luckily, we returned when I was an 8th grader. My mom also had Disney fever.
You can go back and back and back...

There was a lot of things I didn't know about Disneyworld until the Internet.

I knew one could be addicted to drugs, cigarettes and alcohol but I never dreamed one could be addicted to going someplace until we visited WDW when I was 15.

I still dream about going back and taking my son with us for his very first trip....*sniffle* I can't wait to introduce him to "The Magic".

I thought a Magic Kingdom resort was IN the Magic Kingdom.

We stayed at the CBR on our first trip and thought the quiet pool was the main pool. We didn't find out otherwise until we were home.

After hearing about how BIG everything was and seeing all the plans listing ride-by-ride planning, I had envisioned that everything was so spread out, it would be easy to miss something - or someone.

Yes, it's big, BUT I remember having to be convinced that it was ok to park the stroller in Fantasyland and deviate from the schedule by doing all the rides in Fantasyland in whatever order we wanted. It was January and not crowded. My plan would have worked in July!!!!

I didn't know what a huge difference it was staying "onsite".

When I was younger and had never visited I thought all of EPCOT was inside the sphere of spaceship earth. I thought it was a huge mutli level experience (similar to DisneyQuest). Like I said - I was young.

Then on my first visit in 2000 I had done no planning, expecting it to be like Disneyland, which I had been to over 25 times. I thought all there was to do was the parks. I didn't know anything about the gourmet restaurants, the deluxe resorts and all their amenities, the hidden trivia, Downtown Disney, the Boardwalk, tsc.

I was much much better prepared in January thanks to my friends at the DIS!!!

This was one of mine too!! The other was how much fun you could have and how much there is to do as adults! I always thought of WDW as a "kids" place! Silly me!
