Silly survey...how many pairs of dress pants for DH for 7 day cruise?

Sonya, your DH thinks like mine! I think it's adequate, though I do think that my DH would have one more pair like khakis or something just in case. I know we so over-packed for our cruise. I just hope that next time we will have learned our lesson.

Buy the man some dockers! When I first met my hubby, he had NOTHING in between dress pants and jeans. I bought him his first pair of dockers and since realizing 1) they are as comfortable as jeans (if not more so), 2) he can wear it with a polo shirt (instead of short sleeved dress shirt) he actually started wearing them on his own without me asking him to. I think I know the greens you are talking about, my husband has a pair of those, and they are really kind of tough to match with things. Not quite neutral, if you know what I mean. Dockers/chinos in a light tan/putty/whatever color you call those are pretty easy to match. Tell him he will be a lot more comfortable in dockers than dress pants every night, especially with a tropical shirt.

And although I made the "overpack" comment, I would bring 7 shirts! Though really if you're talking dinners only, after formal and semi-formal nights, plus tropical night, that's only 4 other shirts. If they are polos that he might otherwise wear during the day, what I like to do is wear a fresh shirt for dinner the night before and then wear that all day long the next day (to get all sweaty and dirty) and repeat the next day with a clean shirt.

NO! I am absolutely, positively NOT buying anything else for this cruise! I think we spent more money on STUFF for the cruise than we did on the cruise itself.

Yes, dockers are on the list of something to get next time we update his wardrobe, but we just bought him a new suit, ties, dress shirts, slacks, & a sport coat. {not all for the cruise by the way, it was just stuff he needed} So, shopping for DH is OVER!

Anyway, typical red neck guy that DH is, dockers are dress pants in his opinion. It's blue jeans, or it's dressy in his book.

I am with you on this one. I say no less than 4 pairs of dress pants and the more shirts the better! Better to be safe then sorry. Who really feels like washing clothes or worrying about getting something dry cleaned. Your on vacation!

Here is another woman weighing in, and I say that 2 pair of slacks is totally sufficient for a 7 day cruise. They (most likely) will not be worn during the day, and with mix-n-match shirts the look can be easily changed. No one, I repeat no one, outside your family is going to notice that your DH is wearing the same slacks for dinner repeatedly. My DH packs one pair of dress slacks to match his suit coat, or just wear with a plain button up shirt; and one pair of khakis to wear with polo shirts or button up shirts. Regarding the shirt issue, 7 shirts just for dinner is too many; but if some (such as polo shirts) can be used for daytime with shorts, then it's not too many. If you have a very messy husband and an aversion to doing laundry on your cruise, then perhaps your DH needs more clothing. We are a family that likes to pack light, and I have no problem throwing in laundry when on vacation. In fact, I prefer to come home with a suitcase of clean clothes that can go straight back to my closet!

Two pairs of pants is PLENTY! Seriously, no one will even NOTICE if he wears the same pants every night.

My DH is a light packer (he packs himself, I don't get anywhere near it) and he never runs out of clothes.

Seriously, do NOT take up extra suitcase space with more pants and don't go out and buy anthing else new if you don't want the expense.

I pack lighter every cruise and we STILL always have stuff we never wore.
