So now that it's dipping into the 70s down here, we Floridians are pulling out the winter wear ;) Which brings me to the same problem that I have every year - how the heck do you keep your sleeves out of everything when you're wearing a long-sleeved shirt or jacket? I always end up getting my sleeves in my food, they get wet when I wash my hands, etc. I don't know if there's a trick to this, or it's just inexperience on my part. I ask this question with a smile, but I'm serious about it - please pass along any sleeve advice you have! :)

Two options for washing your hands.

Keep your fingers pointed straight down and only wash the tips.

Take the jacket off and lay it in a puddle of water next to the sink so the whole thing gets wet instead of just the sleeves.

Two options for eating.

Suck out the cuffs before you leave the table.

Take the jacket off and hang it on the back of your chair so that it hangs down and drags on the floor and gets caught under your chair legs or trips other people as they pass by your chair.

Just pull them up over your elbow. you can also use a hair band or rubber band and just pull them up over your wrist alittle.

while philaround has some great suggestions, I usually just push my sleeves up when I wash my hands or if I am eating

I generally just cut the sleeves off

I had this jacket when I was in college. Actaully it was my bf and it had really long selves. I was going to school for American Sign Language and no one could understand me. I had to take off my jacket to talk! :rotfl: (because if covered up my hands.)

Actually we just push our selves up alot. I never really thought much about it unless I am wearing one of those new styles with "fancy" selves or soemthing.

I got my DD a new shirt at TDS a few weeks ago. It has these ruffles on the sleves. DD won't wear it. I had my MIL cut them off and sew them up. Problem sloved! :teeth:

First of all, what the heck is 'winter wear' in the 70's?!?! Up here when it hits 50 degrees we pull out the shorts and t-shirts. Most high schoolers wear flipflops until the temps dip down to 0. :)

Now the sleeve thing is a real issue for me because I'm short so I have shorter arms than an average person. Most sleeves I have to roll up the cuff several times, or push them up to just below my elbows. Sweatshirts, jackets, or anything with loose sleeves are the worst. I find that blouses with buttons or anything with sleeves that have elastic, velcro, or something that will adjust the tightness of the sleeve works the best for me.

Now, tell me what winter wear is in Florida!!!!! :confused3

Really, I never would of guessed! :rotfl:

Sorry I just had to say that! :teeth:

I don't wear a ton of long sleeves, but I push them up just a little when I wash my hands or deal with dirty dishes. I never have an issue when eating honestly.

Keeping the fingers pointed down, as suggested does help too.

The other trick is to get used to the cold... you don't *really* need a winter coat when it is in the 20s, 60s is considered warm so we don't even bother with long sleeves when indoors :teeth:

I've tried pushing the sleeves up, but they usually end up falling down mid-wash or meal. I like the "fingers pointed straight down" tip - I'll have to give that one a try.

Seriously, when it dips below 70 down here, I pull out the wool pants :) I was born and raised in Florida, so that's my excuse. You all get to laugh at me now, but when it's 95 degrees and 90% humidity, I'm comfortable and get to laugh at everybody from up north trying not to pass out :p

This is true!! :)

Generally I buy clothing where the sleeves don't actually cover my hands :rotfl: . I guess I have never had that problem. I don't really know how to answer. As for summer heat, most of the summer we are in the 90's with high humidity so Florida wasn't any different for us (in fact when we were there this past June DH commented about the LACK of humidity).
