Do you get any perks? I always wondered if someone worked there do they get a pass to let a friend in for a day? There would seem like there should be some perks but maybe there isnt. I was always wondering that! Like if you work in some hotel chains you can sometimes stay at the chain for $50 a night. (Wish I still worked at holiday inn sometimes, not too often but sometimes) What are the perks? I hope they are good to compensate for some of the nuts they have to deal with!

When I went to Disney on my honeymoon my BIL lived in Orlando. He was a part of the Disney-College program and decieded after graduating he wanted to continue working for Disney. As a CM he recieved photo ID which allowed him to enter any park anytime. He recieved a job offer from the Rain Forest Cafe at the Disney Market Place that was to good to pass up ( he is a chef), so decieded to take the job. While working for the RF Cafe he was technically no longer a CM since the Restaurant was not owned by Disney. We visit while he was employeed there. As an employee of the RF Cafe he recieved comps that allowed us to skip he the line and be seated immediately, we also recieved vouchers for apps and such. I realize that has nothing to do with Disney, just felt like sharing :teeth: . Since he had recently been a CM, he still had his pass, one day he came with us to the parks. We parked in the Contemporary and showed his ID to not get a hard time from the security gaurd and we walked to the MK, much easier then TTC. He then flashed his old ID and got right into the park no problem. He had also told us too bad he didn't realize before the job switch that we were coming and he would have gotten us passes, would have been nice! That was back in 1997. Now fast foward to now, I have a 9 month old who required physical therapy. As I began planning this trip I was speaking to my daughters physical therapist about us going to Disney. She told me her husband works for ESPN, which is owned by Disney and she would get us a couple of comp passes. I was so excited. She did get me the passes, but as it turns out we decied on the Magic Your Way package and don't need them but I am giving them to my FIL, who plans on meeting us for a day or 2. So I would assume if employees of ESPN get perks, CM must, although the only thing I know for a fact is what I have seen first hand. Hope you enjoy my insight.

My sister is a full time CM at DTD. Yes, there are some perks, but they differ based on whether you are full or part time. As a part time employee, she got a 10 percent discount on merchandise and food. As a full time employee, she gets a larger discount on merchandise. At certain times of year, she gets a 40 percent discount. The longer you are there, the better discounts you get.

She also has a Main Gate pass that allows her entry to the parks. There are blackout dates around the holidays. She can take two people into the park with her, but she has to be with them. I believe she gets a discount on resort accommodations, but she hasn't used it.

Also, full time employees get health care benefits, etc. The vast majority of people working at the parks and the stores are part time CMs. They only have so many openings for full time CMs. You have to have worked at least a year to apply for a full time position when one becomes available.

My friend who is a CM (been working there a LONG time) has gotten me and a friend into the parks free, has gotten 40% off rooms at Disney resorts for my family, has gotten my family as grand marshalls of the parade... :flower:

Good to know there are still companys with perks out there! Thanks, I was just curious and always wondered about it.
