Silly question about toiletries

I know this is a bit silly, but I'm trying to cut down on heavy things in our luggage, so I was wondering if anyone remembers what the complimentary toiletries provided in the staterooms (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel or soap) smell like? I don't care so much about how great my hair looks from it but strong fragrances trigger migraines, so just wondering if I should bring my own!

It is H2O spa line, 2.7 ounce containers which are replaced at the discretion of your room host. You get shampoo, conditioner, and body butter. Concierge level gets 3 additional products.

You also get 2 types of bar soap; a scented one in the shower/tub and an unscented face/hands bar. Again, replaced as needed.

The H2O Spa amenities are fantastic - I became addicted to the shampoo and conditioner and now have to order them online!! They smell wonderful and leave my hair very soft and shiny.

It's not a perfume-y, strong fragrance at all. It's hard to describe, but it's light and fresh. Definitely not an overpowering or cheap smell. Does that make sense? The soap is also very light and wonderful smelling.

Great stuff! Maybe it smells herbally? :lmao: Spa-like? Hard to describe!

Maybe just bring shampoo for you and the fam can use the provided stuff. That would be horrible to get a migraine (no time for that;)). I understand some smells make me sick, too!

I agree with this. It does smell kinda "herbally", but I really don't care for the smell. I didn't use it, I used my own. My daughter did use it and she has asthma and it didn't bother her at all. I also have terrible reactions to over-powering smells and I didn't like the smell of it. Here's a picture I took of what they included (inside stateroom):

I too have smell-triggered migraines (can only wear one kind of perfume) but did very well with the DCL bath products.
That said, I think they are fairly strongly scented and I would also recommend that you at least bring a travel size of shampoo or even better one of the ones that is a two-in-one shampoo and conditioner :cool1:

Don't know where you live, but if you go online to the H2O site to find out where to buy the product in your area, you could go check out the scent ahead of time. I have found some h2o products including the spa line at Ulta (if there is one in your area?) I have issues with some scents also, the spa line doesn't bug me either. I wound up ordering shampoo, conditioner, and body soap for our home, to help me remember our cruise.:)

I like the products but I am not picky and do not take my own toiletries when I travel. Also I have neve (2 dcl cruises) had problems getting extra from our room steward before they re supplied the room.

We were on the Magic over Christmas, and the containers have now shrunk to 2 ounces. :(

They smell like an herbal sandalwood. My kids were out of shampoo and conditioner yesterday so used the Disney ones we took, and now their hair smells like the cruise!

I am very "scent-sensitive" and always bring my own toiletries no matter where we go. That being said, I can tolerate the smell of DCL toiletries and even let my family use them (:)), but I still bring my own because I'm afraid long term exposure to the smell (like the smell of the soap on my skin from my morning shower) would really bother me. The scent of DCL toiletries isn't super strong, but still, I am very very sensitive to different smells.

Ahhhhh....thanks for the picture.....makes me super excited for our cruise.

Yeah, that makes me sound top-class, doesn't it!??! A picture of a bathroom makes me excited for a cruise. I must be looney!! :lmao:

It just reminds me of the cruise. I guess I don't spend much time thinking about the details! :)

Well, if you are looney, I am too. :lmao: I am SOOOO EXCITED for our Feb cruise, and all of these little details just add to the anticipation!!!

thanks for asking this question. My husband is allergic to scented soap. Now that I know this ....one less thing to pack, 0akes room for one more pair of SHOES........:rotfl:

Yeah, they were like that in early July. Someone said it was because the smaller size was allowed on carryon luggage but the limit is 100 ml on carry on and the larger size was 79 ml (2.7 ozs) and now it is 60 ml (2 ozs).
For 3 girls with long thick hair 2ozs does not work.
I ask for extra on our cruise and immediately hand them a $10 bill and sometimes it works and sometimes I have to beg every day.

Well, at least we're not alone. I bet there's lots of looneys out there, we're just the proud who will admit it!! :lmao:

What cruise are you on? We're doing the Dream on Feb 10th! Can't wait!!!

I think the soap, shampoo, and conditioner smell like eucalyptus, and I'm not fond of the scent. It didn't stop me from using it, however. :lmao:

Thanks everyone - very helpful. I'll take a bit of my own just in case.

And I'm happy to see I'm not the only person in the world who takes photos of the bathrooms! :)
