Silly post about doing the laundry

so if we were to take our own detergent from the UK which would it be? I don't get it?!

You guys are always so far ahead of us in this kind of stuff (i.e. recycling, energy efficiency) that your regular detergent is probably fine if you are using it in a front loading washer.

BTW - I LOVE  those Purex sheets & have never head problems with them.

I found something at the Walmart in FL (I think it was in the Orlando area) which was detergent drops. I used them in the machine and fabric softener sheets in the dryer and that worked great for me at both Disney and on the Cruise. :)

The Purell says ok for HE machines... you just have to make sure you don't put the sheet into the water stream.

I use them at home (top loader though) and it works great.

We have an HE machine at home. I usually have a box of powdered HE detergent so I can occasionally set the machine to run in the very early morning and just toss it in the dryer when I get up. When we vacation I usually just put single load measured amounts of the powdered detergent in ziplock bags and use those, and use fabric softener sheets for the dryer. It's so much cheaper than buying the small boxes, and I just don't trust anything liquid in my luggage.:laundy:

Thanks for the replies, I'd never heard of High Efficiency machines ;)

I think the liqui-tab things are perfect, I have used these at WDW in the HUGE front loaders they have at the Beach Club Villas.

I have actually got some free samples (Bold 2 in one liqui-tabs, Ariel Actilift and a Comfort conditioner - perfect for 2 loads) and they came with £1 off vouchers for any of the range from Tesco :thumbsup2 They pack easily in tupperware tubs too.

Check out moneysavingexpert.co.uk for current offers or the manufacturers website.

we just put our liquid in the small travel style bottles (shampoo bottles) and then put those in a baggie. that way we could just throw the empty bottles away when we was done with it. I made up one bottle per load so had maybe 3-4 of them(in case the teenager wanted to do his laundry as well) We only use liquid at home. but i did buy some of the purex sheets to try out for future trips as they seem alot more easier to pack.

Target has the single load Tide packets in the travel toiletries section. I grabbed a couple just in case. I'll make sure to only use 1/2 packet though.

I didn't think my post would have any real response. I was wrong. However, I have never had any problems using the Purell sheets and I sailed recently. You can also cut the sheets in half if you dont want too much suds if thats what you are worried about. Just use common sense and you will be fine.

Heck its vacation, you do not have to do laundry at all!

Half the non HE soap or half the non HE sheets....:thumbsup2 Got it!

Thanks for posting this! I never would have even thought about the differences in the washing machines
