Hello All,
Just got the email about passing ROFR for 150 SSR points!!! I know there are still weeks of waiting for closing and getting into the system before calling MS to make my first reservation, but I love planning, so I am asking for help.

What are the experiences you all have had calling MS? Am I going to be on hold forever if I call at 9am? If I am just looking for somewhere to stay (dreaming of Memorial Day weekend as a long shot, but hoping on Halloween weekend at 7 months out), will they search around or do I need to have a resort chosen? At 7 months out, should I call repeatedly that day or will wait-listing cover that for me? Etc, etc :goodvibes

Thank you so much in advance for any information!!!!

Hi! Just wanted to say congrats! I've only called member services a couple of times since we became members in November, and my wait times have been 5 minutes or less, calling early in the a.m. Good luck with your reservation! They are very helpful especially when you let them know you are new to it.

I have never had a very long wait when I call at exactly 9:00 am. That could be a different story if you are trying for a very busy time at Disney (Christmas, etc). If you call for a reservation for Memorial Day weekend, just tell the CM what kind of villa you want (studio, 1 bed, 2 bed), and they will check all of the resorts for you. Remember that availability changes daily, so if you don't get what you want the first time, call again - there are always cancellations that free up rooms. Don't be afraid to waitlist either, we have had ours come thru about 1/2 of the time.

Hi

My experience of MS has been superb. i have never been kept waiting (in 10 calls) more than 2 minutes. They are incredibly flexible and spend as long as you need to help find what you want. When you call ensure you have your preferences to hand (ie. the resort you would like to stay at and your preferred dates). If your first choice isn't available they will tell you what is. I'm new to DVC and have only booked 2 trips (1 at 4 months and 1 at 7 months), but I got pretty much everything I asked for :rotfl2::cool1: I wish you the same good fortune.

The only time I remember waiting a long time was way back in the day when MS used to open later on Saturday. It was the 11 month mark for Saturday before Thanksgiving. Thank goodness for that speakerphone option!

I've called since then for Thanksgiving and Easter and not run into a problem. Now 11/7 month windows for Xmas/NYE/1st 2 weeks of December/new resort opening/member cruise can put you on hold. There are usually some threads posted while on hold.

If I'm adding ME or have some question about something, I will call in the afternoon, I don't call in early unless I'm making a reservation, it might be someone's 11/7 month window and I don't want to tie up a CM with a non urgent request.

Just got off the phone from member services, called at 10:00 a.m., and did not have any wait time at all. They told me my husband should have been sent a membership card, apologized, and then told me they would put an ultra-rush on it...we should have it in a COUPLE OF MONTHS!! :scared1: No big deal to me, really, since we won't be going until August. I actually laughed and asked her why, she said she didn't really have any idea, other than maybe they have to pull our documents for the information, be sure everything checks out.

She also said that if we don't have it by August, that we could go to the preview center at Saratoga Springs and that they would print one up right away... I'll check back here when I get it, to let you know how long it really took! :thumbsup2

Congrats Wesmom! I've always had great experiences with MS, polite, accurate and to the point. I've never been put on hold for long, if on hold it's usually to secure a new location before getting rid of an existing one. I've waitlisted a few times, and they've both come in. I don't think there is any benefit to calling MS repeatedly for a time/loc that is un-available, I just waitlist! I've booked at busy times a the 7 month mark and been pleasantly surprised, but I've also learned to be flexible and to have my ducks in a row before I call MS!

I hope DVC works as well for you as it has for us! Good luck!

I also had nothing than excellent interactions with MS. I always call right at 9AM as that's 3PM here and never had to wait more than a minute or 2 once I was past the selection tree.

Sometimes, if I had non-urgent bookings I also sent an e-mail using the booking form giving 3 choices and that also worked quite well.

I rarely have to wait to talk to anyone at MS. And then when I do wait it is only for a couple minutes.

There have been occasions where wait times are lengthy but it's usually related to when the reservations for the DCL DVC Member cruise opens.

Hopefully all of the final paperwork from the sellers will get submitted quickly and your closing will be over before you know it.
