How do you pre-cut moleskin to the right size to take to the parks with you? We're leaving tomorrow and i'm trying to get everything set. I realized I have no idea how to do this. Thanks you guys.

I just use sissors and cut it down to various sizes.:goodvibes

Have a great trip.:)

Where do you buy moleskin? I would love to know more about this stuff!

I found it at the Sportsmen Outdoors Store or Sports Warehouse. Some place that carries camouflage.

Moleskin is often found at regular drugstores as well as sporting goods stores. (I get mine at Walgreens, in the foot care section.)

Be sure to buy the thinner moleskin, rather than the thicker "molefoam" that is available. I found that the thicker molefoam did not bend around my toes easily.

I just pre-cut mine up in various sizes, mostly squares. But I also cut it into longer, thinner strips that can fit around my little toes, too. If you pre-cut it, you don't have to carry scissors (certainly a no-no on airplanes!).

I do Wilderness excursions with clients and I have found that Duct Tape works soo much better. It is thin, slick and sticky. I usually put a small piece of cotton or gauze over the hot spot/blister and cover it with a piece of duct tape. You do not have to carry a massive roll of tape either. I wrap it around a water jug, or pill bottle, or pen or anything round. It cuts east and it has less friction on socks and shoes.

When you cut the moleskin, round off the corners. It doesn't peel off that way. I just cut two of each of various sizes and put them in a very small ziploc bag. Works like a charm. Haven't tried the duct tape thing though... duct tape solves hundreds of problems does it not?!

I never understood how to use moleskin, doesn't the sticky part stick to the blister? OUCH

I had two serious blisters last October. They were pretty much the length of my entire heel. I had moleskin with me but didn't realize I was getting a blister until I had it. I spent the rest of the trip putting moleskin on the blisters each morning, it padded the blister so I could walk and every evening I would take it off and it never stuck to the blister, I was worried that it would tear it and cause more pain but really it was a vacation saver because without it I wouldn't have been able to walk!

DUCT TAPE IS THE BEST!!! I read about it in the Unofficial Guide in 1999, have used it ever since. We always pack duct tape for our WDW trips! If I have to be on my feet more than 12 hours at work I use duct tape. My mother uses it, and my husband uses it too! It really is a miracle. Also wearing two pair of socks, one thin and one thick (another tip in the Unofficial Guide) works wonders. I do that on a regular basis now!

If you wear two pair of socks and put duct tape on your feet EVERYDAY at the beginning of the day YOU WILL NOT GET BLISTERS no matter how much walking you do. But I do suggest that you experiment with duct tape before leaving home to get your technique just right. You don't want the duck tape to stick to any toenails, can actually pull of your pinkie toe nail (happened to me!). You don't want to use very large pieces of the tape (it causes too many thick wrinkles and overlaps that could cause a blister). You don't want to use too many small pieces that will come off as your feet start to sweat throughout the day. I always wrap the balls and heels of my feet, almost making a kind of duct tape cast. My husband just uses three pieces: one piece starts at the bottom of his toes and runs to the back of his heel, the next piece goes over the ball of his foot, and the next piece goes around the back of his heel, very, very simple and easy to do! It just makes such a difference.

**By the end of the day, your feet sweat so much that usually the duct tape comes right off when you remove your socks. There's no painful pulling of the skin. If the tape doesn't come right off, just put your feet in hot water and the tape will come off very easily.

If you ever have problems with sore feet or blisters I beg you to try this. It is one of the best (if not, THE BEST) WDW tip EVER! I can't imagine going to WDW (or living life) without duct tape!!!

One tip I've used for packing tape, stands to reason you could use it for duct tape: If you will take a box cutter/knife/razor and cut out the cardboard inside the duct tape roll, you can actually squish the roll into a flat "roll". It will take up a lot less space, so you can pack it in the bag you take into the parks (just in case you need a quick fix), you could even slip it in your pocket, but I don't think that would be necessary, unless you plan on doing some handiman work around the Magic Kingdom.

WOW. I have never heard of moleskin. You use it for blisters? What is it? Mole skin?? I'm stupid, I know :lmao:

I wore crocs all week last August and my feet didn't hurt and no blisters. They were great and didn't make your feet hot either.

I carry a really tiny pair of scissors with me. I have a small, about 5"X3", case that I make into a mini medical kit. I pre-cut the moleskin ,various sizes but keep the scissors to fine tune it. Also, if you have a blister you can cut out a circle in the middle of the moleskin so that nothing is touching the blister.

I actually saw Duct Tape bandaids in a Duane Reade store in NYC! Someone is probably making a fortune from this idea.

I have to say that blisters is the one thing I wish I hadn't worried about at all. I packed band ades, mole skin (we got ours at Target and saw it at Walmart too), and a few other things and not one of us got blisters. Not the 8 year old in rain boots (her favorite foot wear), not the dad in the same sneaker day after day or the mom (me) who alternated her sneakers. The toddler was stroller riding and not really in danger.
And we walked a lot. A lot. From early morning 'til midnight and later. Our feet were tired. Our legs were sore. But not one of us blistered. I credit that mainly to the fact that our shoes were broken in but not old and our socks were all cotton.
Maybe, of course, we just got lucky. But I really thought blisters would be a problem and they weren't at all.
BUT I hadn't precut my moll skin at all and once I realized my mistake, I just promised myself to go borrow scissors at first aid if we needed to.

I feel like a fool now! I always thought that you stuck the Mole Skin to your shoe where it was rubbing! I didn't realize you put the sticky stuff on yourself... oh well, now I know!

I used the moe skin once but really didn't like it since it stuck to my blisters. But, I didn't put it on till I had blisters. Never heard of the duck tape but sounds like something to try. I'll have to remember that!

This past Nov I actually used something new and never got a blister, which is a first for me. Usually I'm limping with bad blisters. Anyway, I think it's by Band Aid Brand. It's special bandaids just for blisters. They are kind of cushiony, and oval shaped. They stay on a long time, even through showers or swimming. They worked great! I put them in the places I usually get blisters like the balls of my feet and they were awesome! I just put several across that part of my foot to cover the area and it was great!:thumbsup2

I can honestly say that I have never in my life heard of anything like putting duct tape on your feet to prevent blisters. I guess it must work!
