Signups: Paper Piecing Swap Due March 7 CLOSED

DisneyIsTerrific, I can move us from the Handmade girl to the Cricut girl, or I could just leave us the 2 of us. Since we were planning on doing handmade, 2 would be easier to make than 6. I'll make my handmade piece either way.

You scared me! :lmao: I didn't remember signing up for handmade. I'm not very good at it yet! Anyway, that's Mischief Managed in the handmade girl group not me.

If you need fillers for the Cricut/handmade girl group, you can put me in there and I'll do one of the other fairies from the Tinkerbell cartridge. I need to go look and see which one.

Also, for the Cricut/Handmade nonDisney character group, are you guys okay with me making Cookie Monster. I see that rlovew is making Cookie Monster in the other handmade group. Would you prefer a different character? If so, who would you like?

Sorry for taking so long to update. But you know WDW, wipes you out from age 2 - 92! I've been getting home, doing a quick PM check and then falling into bed.

There are a few open spots, but mostly in Handmade groups, so if those don't fill, we will still go with what we have.

Susan, I added you to Cricut Girl, Boy and Holiday.

I'll do Lightning McQueen (pg31) for cricut boy, snow white 3 for cricut girl. Still looking for holiday. I got JOTS as a gift so something from that probably.

I would love another fairy!

I like all Sesame Street characters and I have several things to use it with -- another cookie monster or any other character is fine with me.

:lmao: When I read Hope's post, I thought, oh, how nice, DIT has joined us for the handmade pieces. :cool1: Made that's her hint at getting you to join?!?! :rolleyes1

Hope, I would prefer to stay in the Handmade group. Like you said, it's easier to make 2 instead of 6, and if it's just the two of us - then I can spend more time embellishing the paper piecing, and making Alice pretty. :goodvibes

A group of 2 works for me.

I'm also okay with multiple Cookie Monsters. Rebecca is working from a coloring page, so the pose will probably be different than what is on the cartridge. But if you wanted to do something different, DH's favorite is the Count and I also love Snuffy.

I will join groups A, B, and G to fill them out. I know G will be a Sesame Street character- either Abby or Elmo or the Count. For group B I will do Mike from Monster's Inc. I will do either Marie or Thumper for group A.

I'll stick with Cookie Monster, but that's who I really want to do. I'll also make you a Count and Snuffy, they can be your hostess gifts!!!

Thanks Rebecca. SharonLovesMickey already picked Mike for the Handmade boy group, is there someone else you would like to do?

delete -- I'm going to stick with what I have. The Lightning MCQueen is super hard.

I am back home. Lesson learned, don't try to hold signups when you are on vacation, no matter how much time you think you will have. It won't be enough.

I am going to keep signups open until tomorrow morning, and get the Progress thread up tomorrow afternoon. Since I had signups open longer than I had planned, I will be backing up the due date one week.

I borrowed some coloring books from my parents with older park characters. Country Bears and such, so I hope to be able to make some interesting pieces.

I have a question...
What size should we make these paper piecings? If I am doing a cricut one, how big should I make my character? And do I need to mount this to something or are we just swapping the paper piecing alone? I'm sorry, I've never done a paper piecing only swap :clown:

The character should be a minimum of 4" in one direction. For paper piecings it is usually easier to do them at a larger size anyway, as the pieces are easier to cut out and work with. Most Cricut PP, I do at 5", and I think most people do them approximately that size too. If you have an Expression, you can make them bigger, but I wouldn't go over 8" in height, so people can use them in 8x8 books.

Even the Cricut paper piecings vary in difficulty, some are many layers, with many small pieces. Sounds like Lightening McQueen is pretty difficult, and so are many of the Princesses. Others, like the Pooh characters are only 3 colors, and pretty simple. If your paper piecing is simple, consider mounting it on a tag or a double matted shape, using the shadow feature.

But other than that, there really aren't any rules.

I'm going to go ahead and close this out, and will post the Progress thread in a bit. So some groups will have less than 6 participants, so you will want to note the correct number of items you will need to make.

Mickeyteacher will be joining us in a few groups, so if you jotted things down in the last 10 minutes, you might need to update again. :goodvibes

I figured out my pieces- in group A I am fairly certain I will do Marie- unless she proves to be too much of a problem. In group B- is the Cheshire Cat okay? For group G- the cricut non-disney I am going to do Oscar the grouch. For the handmade holidays I am going to do a group of packages.

Rebecca

Beauty and the Beast is proving to be a beast :rotfl2:

All those little pieces, even at 6 1/2 inches. I'll keep y'all posted. :crazy2:
