Thank you for pointing out that thread. It is the EXACT post I was looking for. That is the one she contradicts herself. I appreciate your help!!!!

pinnie

Don't thank me - I want no part of your personal agenda. :stir:
She answered your question, that's all.

That's repulsive and boorish. Are these people still in middle school?

Pinnie has has good advice for them:

Right, Pinnie?

I think I'll put that on a tee-shirt!

In answer to the original question: yes - I find the DIS "discussions" being continually "watered down" after each upheaval, most notedly after the demise of the Debate Board.

It is really easy to write words while hidden behind a screen name and while some took advantage and vented their anger at the world,

I don't mean to edit your post, mamacatnv (very good, BTW) but this particular statement comes up time & again and it drives me crazy...

It is equally easy for people to spew their most personal, in-depth, trivial thoughts, opinions, personal information and photos to tens of thousands of strangers...all the while believing the Internet is some sort of safe haven from disagreement, disapproval or ridicule.

Maybe it is me, but I don't feel as at home here as I used to. Are people staying away after the "incident" or are things just changing as things are wont to do? On page one I counted 19 big clique threads. Maybe if I joined one of them I would feel more at home, but that has never been how I have done things. I always loved the little threads. I have learned so much about all different aspects of life in the US and many other places.
Sorry if I am bumming you out, if anyone is reading this, I just feel nostalgic for the "old days".

If I can get back on topic, I'm sorry it took me so long to respond...unlike a couple of months ago I no longer Dis every day. In fact, if I were to be honest, I used to Dis multiple times every day, spending arguably hours here.

I'd have myself a good old time, especially on Snarky Tuesdays when many of us would revel in our ability to twist and turn a topic to the edge of decency without passing over the fine line to being vulger...ok, sometimes we'd trip and fall in to pointsland, but it was great fun.

Then there were the polls designed to make your sides ache from laughing...the watches....poo and dead bodies come to mind.

Then there were the times when we'd laugh at some unfortunate person who would post serious questions about the best way to make a five tier birthday cake in a bathtub with a propane burner.....and who can forget the family of 13 staying on airmatresses at Pop.

Were we sarcastic? You BET WE WERE...but we also knew how to laugh at ourselves...something that appears to be lacking now.

Is the board different? Absolutely! Is it boring...yup! But what has caused me to leave for the most part is that I want to reach through my computer screen and smack the crap out of people far too often now. I don't come to the internet to get pissed off while people mock my friends and call them names. Call me crazy, but that plucks my temper. If anyone has seen me post at "the other place", they know I did so to defend my friends. Of course I did post there, so I guess I'm a bad person too.

When all this first went down, I thought it was a mistake. I sent PM's thinking that as a respected poster I could make a difference and stop the carnage. Despite getting responses saying that they were working on fixing things, I have yet to see the horrible injustices fixed. I feel betrayed and spit upon by a community I loved.

So now I will slip back away from the Dis and I wish some of you well. I have found a new place that actually IS friendly. Give me a PM if you want to know where...I can't post it here, it's been added to the filter.

Just to get Off Topic...how did you do the Warhol thing with your dog?

Now keep in mind - going OT will seem planned, but....

Its actually an option in Photobucket now. They have some pretty cool effects you can do. :thumbsup2

You can sign up for Photobucket, it's free - or if you wanna email me your pic: catsbackup@yahoo.com (yes....it's a junkmail account, so I am not fearful!) Ill do it for you, if you'd like. :)

Oh neat, thanks for sharing! I'd been wondering how you did that too - very cool.:thumbsup2

It does come up - how many people do you know that would be that nasty to another person if they were face to face? I don't know too many. Internet Boards give some an excuse to remove their manners and respect to others.

True - I love the "what do I do?" and "How would you handle this?"
thread posters who get bent when someone trashes them or doesn't agree.

I recently posted a thread about my DS's Senior class and a stunt the Valedictorian pulled. Over the course of the thread I actually learned a few things and did change my point of view, (one of the reasons I do love a good discussion) of course there were several posters that were heck bent to get their point across, thought I was an niwwitt and didn't bother to read where I said "I see the point" or "That makes sense" etc.... they just continued to blast me. What I find humorous is they end up looking like the nimwitt not me.

On another note, is it a no-no to edit a quote? I do that all the time to shorter the response. I don't change the wording, I just remove what is not relavent. Seriously, is that considered a no no???

I'm sorry but I only got to page 6 and it's now 23 and it only started on the 23rd. Does that make this a clique thread? I don't know what the problem is. Do you feel left out because you are not in a clique thread? Start one. If you don't care about being in one, then leave the posters alone who are in one. They are not hurting you in any way. I do not consider the thread I post in most days to be a clique thread. There are over 10 posters who get involved with our chatter. Anyone can post and we include them in our chatter.
Someone said the funny fluff threads are dwindling. Well, I say, start one and see what happens.
Someone else said it doesn't seem as personal. There's not as many threads about what people are doing, their observations on life. Have you started a thread about one of your observations?

I tend to like sarcasm and a lot of that has disappeared, replaced with people who don't/won't be harsh to anyone. "Sure your neighbors let their kids play with guns, but not everyone has the same parenting style, so MYOB" is the type of comment I see a lot lately.
BTW I think those threads are called "clique" threads because sure, anyone can join, but who really goes into a group of people having a conversation and butts their way in? HS flashbacks, anyone?
Robin M.

You can state your opinion without personally attacking someone. I don't feel sarcasm needs to be used as a bullying tool.
How do you meet new people without getting into the group's conversation? It sounds more like middle school attitudes to me.
I got to meet a very caring bunch of people here because I did feel like I was not involved with any group here. I posted and was never acknowledged. Everyone talked around me but not to me. I was new to Disney and new to posting on any board. On that thread I can ask a question and have it answered without someone sticking a knife in my back.
I agree that many people got a rotten deal. I have written some things I had to think about the 2nd time before I posted. I think it's up to the people here to make this board into what they want it to be-according to the DIS guidelines. If you want funny posts, then write them. If you want interesting threads, then come up with something interesting to write about. Complaining will not change things.

I think you have your boards mixed up.
I'm sorry, was it not here on this thread that they were referred to as feminine hygiene products? That coupled with the innate gleeful tone of others talking about them plucks my nerves.

For what it's worth, feel free to call me anything you'd like. I'm a big girl and I wear big girl panties...I can take it. Call out my friends and I'm going to be ticked.

Last I heard, it was finally proven the two CRs are indeed two different CRs as they both couldn't be in the same place at the same time. . .:teleport: Well, they could, but they'd have to break a lot of laws in the space/time continuum. :lmao:

Do you know what was never investigated? That I could possibly have 2 windows open - both logged onto the DIS - one as Carly - one as Cat.... and at the exact same moments I could click "POST" on both windows, throwing everyone off.

MUHHHahahahahahaha! *evilest laugh I can come up with*

Hmmmm.... :scratchin

Thanks - its fun to play with.

You know what *I* would like to know? This:

Is that like states you have visited? Thats cool.

I know - no one needs to tell me: :offtopic:

Aren't you impressed that you are so important that your every statement and act is scrutinized by total strangers on a message board. I am (almost) envious of all the attention, albeit negative attention. ;)

Actually, it was investigated. THAT'S what cleared you.

Now, don't you go thinking about hacking into CarlyRoach's account again, to post at the same time.

 Oops! I shouldn't posted that.

:lmao:

2 comments: the first bolded quote is exactly how I felt when the other board got nasty and I have also seen it here too. It does make one mad to see people say hurtful things to others and friends. It is just a bad example as people IMHO. We'd tell our kids not to do such to others (hopefully) and yet adults treat each other that way on the net and in RL. I think they are just more outspoken and bold on the internet.

and 2--that comment will come back to bite you in the years to come.:rotfl: Ask Dan. ;)

Just for the record, I'm the queen of going off topic. Hell, I forget what my point was halfway through talking sometimes.

It was post after post of VMK that I was commenting on!
Posts here and there OT... GO FOR IT!
