Morning DVC DIS'ers,

We received our closing papers yesterday which I am excited about. Unfortunately, my wonderful DW (not being sarcastic) is leery now. She wants to know that the VWL contract is valid before sending the balance of the price. I tried to explain to her that TSS (whom we trust 100%) would not do business with a questionable closing company or customers but she is still leery which is bumming me out.

Outside of checking with the BBB(which I just did so I can show her the closing company is legit), is there a website or someone at DVC that I can call to verify the contract(it did pass ROFR a few weeks ago) so I can prove to her that everything is on the up & up and we can send in the check?

Thanks folks!

Well... the TSS is very reputable, it passed Disney's ROFR ....
....cant think of a better answer !! ;)

Honestly, if Disney has passed ROFR they have already verified that it is a valid contract. Your wife is worrying about a non-issue. Tell her to relax and enjoy planning her next vacation!!!

Seriously, between Disney and The Timeshare Store you are working with the cream of the crop in timeshare resales. They won't let anything go wrong, I promise.

Your only concern (and it should have been there when you found the contract and decided to make an offer on it) would be the status of points. Are there current year points or is it stripped???

Thank you for the replies folks.

I spoke with DW and told her what y'all said, that it is a non issue and that the closing company has no complaints in the BBB, but she is still being stubborn about it. She wants me to call DVC to check the validity of the contract but I told her that most likely no one is going to divulge anything about it, but she has insisted so she is going to end up calling them tomorrow. I think it is a non-issue as well but I can't fault her for being cautious even though in this instance, I think it is mis-guided.

I am going to call Jason at TSS and see if he can think of anything that could eliminate her concerns.

*Deb & Bill, the contract is 50pt. Aug. UY with 32 '06 points, 3 borrowed '07 points (which we are going to lose since we don't plan to go back until Dec. at the earliest, so we are fine with that) and 47 points coming on 8/1/07 and the regular 50 points coming in '08, and so on.

Sorry you are having to deal with this, then. I can't think of anything else you could do or have access to - your wife is being unreasonable, but I suspect you probably already know that!!!! I would hate for you to lose out on a nice DVC contract - hope you can come to some sort of resolution with her before it comes to that!!

:rolleyes1 Ahhh yes! I love when my DW does things like this too. If she's anything like my wife the only thing that would satisfy her is Mickey Mouse showing up at the front door with a certified letter from the Disney Corporation stating the validity of the contract. If you have the name of the person selling the contract, try this site: http://officialrecords.occompt.com/wb_or1/or_sch_1.asp
I hope this works for you and she doesn't think someone set up this elaborate website to swindle you.:lmao:

We have purchased two contracts through The Timeshare Store and have nothing but good things to say for them. That said, I caution you to read your closing papers carefully and make sure the information is correct. For both of my sales the closing company (not The Timeshare Store) sent papers with incorrect information (the number of points was incorrect). A quick phone call took care of it and the correct papers were emailed to me within minutes. The closings went smoothly after that. The Timeshare Store has sold thousands of DVC contracts. If you have any concerns speak with Tom Yeary, the owner of TTS. I don't think you have anything to worry about. You will love staying at VWL. Welcome home--almost!!:yay:

burnsoc, is your wife from Nicaragua by any chance :rotfl:

I am still going to check with Jason at TSS to make sure there if there is anything else I can say to the Mrs. but I am going to show her the official records link which I hope would hit the spot for her to alleviate the concerns. Thanks for posting it!

Disneykid, I can safely say that both DW and I are thoroughly pleased and happy with TSS! Tom and Jason are excellent people and we got to meet Jason when we were at WDW a couple weeks ago. I did go over the contract and I know I will be double and triple checking the spelling and the terms. Sometimes DW's stubborness comes out at inopportune times when it is not necessary, but as I mentioned in an earlier post, I can't fault her at the same time. I would rather her voice her questions or concerns so we can discuss it instead of it leading to problems. I don't think we will lose the contract, it will just take an extra couple of days to assuage her concerns.

I just want to sign and get the papers for our new home NOW!!!!:thumbsup2

I hope it works for you. I find that when I really want something that's when my DW is most skeptical. I'm sure it will work out fine, and one day maybe we'll run into each other at the territory lounge and swap marriage war stories. Welcome Home fellow VWL member!!!!!! :yay: :cheer2:

i have personally purchased thru disney and thru the timeshare store. i find both very honest and reliable. just read your contract to be sure pts and seller and buyer information is correct, if not a simple phone call is all it takes. i completely trust jason and also my dvc guide.:thumbsup2

just sit back and enjoy dreams of your up-coming dvc vacation. you will love it.:cloud9:

i have never stayed at vwl but plan to do so this spring. i expect to love that resort as well as the others i have stayed in.:goodvibes

Just a few things:

1. Register your wife on these boards

2. Give her a "VWL Groupies" sig (see at bottom of my post)

3. Take her to the VWL groupies thread

4. Start talking about when you want to go

and finally........

Welcome Home.

And I just have to add, you have great taste in DVC resorts.
:thumbsup2

All kidding aside, I hope your wife will have a peace about doing this. It is important.

Ditto.

There was an issue with the points being different than TSS originally told me when we put the offer in but that came up during the ROFR procedure. I had a chance then to say yes or no to the deal. The few points that were in error didn't matter to us so we went ahead with the deal. If you've already passed ROFR though, you're past the point where you'd have heard about any errors.

Thanks Muushka,

DW is not much into message boards, so I don't know about getting her involved. I am the one who searches around and asks questions. But I was thinking about getting involved with the groupies thread and using the image in the signature. Maybe once everything is finalized...

When you're ready, I've got the name of a good marriage counselor in Coral Gables.

If your wife is that nervous I would suggest find out the liabilities for cancelling this trasaction and purchasing from DVC.

It will cost more but she will have peace of mind.

Jodie

Yes, please join us. And I don't think it is written in the VWL Groupies by-laws that you actually have to own at VWL in order to get the sig.

KingOMiami, your DW sounds like my DH did two months ago. A million questions after we sent the deposit in! I was ready to kill the guy I love the most!! All went well, we had over 300 points that have to be used by 6/1/07 and we were able to plan 2 vacations without any problems. I know your DW is worried but TSS is great to work with and the points will all be there.
