I get they don't know when they will open but they sure as heck know the minimum time they will NOT be open. I am working on a state agency plan and we know the minimums. Disney knows theirs. Stop ***** footing around. Stop the make believe - magical thinking - coy games that are giving people false hope and tell people the absolute minimum before they can open.

YES, we know they don't know the actual opening - could be June, July, December or April 2021 but they definitely know the lead time for notification to the unions and the employees to get them back on the job so spit it out and tell people so they can move on with their plans.

JUST ANNOUNCE IT ALREADY! WE WILL BE CLOSED UNTIL AT LEAST>>>>______________!

I am hoping we will hear something this week, now that more information has been shared from state and local officials.

I am only concerned with DVC resorts opening date, and not parks. I still think June has a good chance for that, based on the decisions DVC did make,

Based on park hours, it won’t be before May 23rd. But it would be nice for early June reservations to know now,

Parks and resorts is ahead of DVC in terms Of canceling and last I read, they were canceling May 17th to 24th this week.

Yes! There is so much uncertainty that we are all dealing with, just give us a better idea of whether we will need to rebook or not. They have some idea of how long it will take to be ready for an opening in stages, just give us a ballpark already.

And then everyone has a hissy fit when they don’t make that date, why bother?

I suspect they don't because its a moving target.
I'm sure they have a date in mind. However, if the state numbers or county numbers jump up, plans must change.
If they say they wil open on date X, Orange county has increased numbers and they can't open, people will be upset.
Literally, they are in a no win situation. Their best option is to suddenly open when they can.

I attended the quarterly earnings call today and have read local and state reports. The Walt Disney Company is closely monitoring the reopening of several states with the aim of observing potential coronavirus case spikes. If the Parks & Resorts division was to open, for example, and cases spiked in states that have reopened, like Tennessee and Texas, then Walt Disney World may have to close again. TWDC does not want to be in a position of reopening and closing because, from a public relations standpoint, it would appear as premature and reactive. Moreover, Bob Chapek stated on today's call that Disney Cruise Line would be the last to come online.

This week, Thomas Mazloum, Senior Vice President of Walt Disney World Resorts and Transportation Operations, stated that although reservations were being accepted for June 1st, Walt Disney World may not open on June 1st.

Enough has been shared by Chapek and Mazloum to suggest that domestic parks may not reopen in June. Moreover, insiders continue to share post July 4th openings.

Based on the narratives shared on this site alone, there is clearly pent-up demand for the reopening of Walt Disney World. However, TWDC is cautious and will only reopen when it is prudent, both fiscally and with regard to guest wellness.

I don't know about TX but it would be hard to use TN as a gauge, because while some of TN is opening, it's more the less populated rural areas, not the large cities.

All very reasonable and I generally support waiting a little longer to gather more data but they could be just a little more transparent about June 1 no? What would be the harm in saying for instance: “as we are all aware these are extraordinary times and unprecedented situations. We at wDW are committed to providing the safest and most enjoyable environment to our friends and cast. As such we are hoping to honor our 6/1st reopen target but unfortunately will not be in a position to be definitive until x date”.

I dont' think they do know because they have to make sure there isn't a resurgence of the virus from phased reopening. They know that us Disney Diehards are going to hear what we want to hear. "Will be closed until at least June" becomes open in June. There is so much that needs to be worked out, its not as simple as opening a door with a key and flipping on the open sign. The point of the phased re opening is to slowly adjust each stage as they see results from the current situation. They don't even know what this virus is. Doctors in New York say they watch people gasping for air. That patients with severe cases can't seem to absorb the oxygen from oxygen masks and they can't get air. How scary to not respond to oxygen. So, if they re open they need to make sure they don't have to close again. Nobody knows what will happen in the next weeks following states reopening. I would give it a couple of weeks before we hear any noise from Disney. They set the stage for decisions of this magnitude and others follow. As for what I believe. Wait two weeks. Then Disney announces plans to open Disney Springs and Hotels in June. Then furloughed workers head back to work to train in the new safety protocols as they plan a July re opening.

I read and interview with a Disney executive yesterday that said non-park, non-resort will open first. So, expect Disney Springs to open ahead of everything else. Realistically, that's pretty easy to do because a lot of it is retail stores, which can regulate how many people are in the store at a time to maintain social distancing. The restaurants need a lot more time, especially since their staff may be enjoying making more money in unemployment due to the federal subsidy and may not want to come back.

From Disney Springs to a resort is a huge leap of complexity, orders of magnitude. While you might think "All you need is extra lysol spray...", opening a resort that's been closed in Florida's climate means a complete top-to-bottom cleaning. In addition, those resort guests need to eat, so you need to get all the resort dining open again, with all those incidental complexities. Unless you are going to strand those resort guests at the resort, you also need to open up transportation. And, who wants to go to WDW when the parks are closed? So, expect at least one park opening within days of the resorts opening. Anyone who has ever taken the back stage tour, or seen it on TV, can realize the complexity of opening a park that's been closed. And, adding new restrictions to comply with social distancing on top of that means new training for the cast members.

I don't expect an opening until August.

If it wasn't until August, they would not have put anything out about April/June points. They would have waited. Also, they offered all those people free dining for vacations June 1st-September 30.....they would not have done that if they even had a thought they might not be open.

There will be a resurgence of the virus when they start opening up. It is inevitable, this shut down was to slow down the virus until we were ready medically for it. It was not to stop it. Nothing will close down again after this, the economy cannot handle it. People will either have to protect themselves or take their chances.

Thank you. "They may have to shut it down again!!!' is absurd. It will not happen. Cases will spike, and we will go on. This shutdown should have been used to prepare to open with distancing and cleanliness precautions, and every business that has instituted those precautions should be opening.

Because for every person that says give us a minimum, someone will have a vacation the week after and say, wait what about me. It is never ending. Just like with the star wars half marathon, people were saying, please just tell us that you are looking at it. A couple of days later, they did come out and said stay tuned for more information. Everyone then lost their mind saying that is an update that isn't an update, whats the point.

People want to complain, doesn't matter what they say or do.
