Sick days at Work

:confused3 don't they just get a sub nurse in when you are out? If our nurse takes off at any of our schools they just call a sub in.

If it's anything like my school, we have one sub nurse for the whole county and it's first come first served! We all hate it when our nurse is out! Last week our nurse was out and the sub nurse called in sick

Usually none. Unless we're in the hospital, the first two days you're sick comes out of vacation time.

None as I have none to use. I'd have to lose pay to stay out sick. So I work unless I'm REALLY bad off.

wow we have a list just for our town alone (though I am sure some nurses are on lists for other schools too) but they have never not had a sub nurse in and its usually always someone different so there are a lot to choose from.

I dont get sick to often, At my job we are entitled to about 12 a year. With a Dr. note we can tie days into one. I did miss last year when I had my appendix removed...... and I called in not sick last summer when we decided to stay a little longer at Disney World, I told them I was suffering from World fever and at the time it was contagious. but I just needed one more day and I would be well enought to return to work!:thumbsup2

My company gives us 12 sick days a year and I take every single one of them. Sometimes for sick, other times just because I don't feel like going to work, sometimes there is something at my daughtersy school during the day I want to go to and other times because we are going away for a long weekend.

I'm in a very small school district. We have 2 subs. It is our reponsibility to call our subs first, then call our supervisor. I generally don't call off if i know that the subs are taken unless it's a dire emergency, like when i rolled my car or when Christian fell down and fractured his hip. However, if the subs are available my supervisor has no problem with me calling on them to take over. Both of them are highly experienced in our schools and know the ropes. Either one of them could walk into my clinic and be functional within 5 minutes.:thumbsup2
