The next time a reckless guest hits us with a stroller, I'm going to chase them down, physically detain them if they refuse to stop, and wait for security to arrive. At least I should be able to demand a police report in case I want to file criminal or civil charges. How have you handled these "attacks"? Have you ever stopped someone who hit you and then refused to stop? Is there a phone number for Disney security or would you just call 911 from your cell phone?

DW was run into twice by different people with the big plastic Disney rental strollers. Both times caused pain but the 2nd time caused a lot of pain and a cut. Each time, the "attacker" took off. DS6 was standing waiting for the parade and someone came by running with a stroller and hit DS's arm. That person kept on racing down the parade route too... I almost chased them down but wanted to make sure DS was OK. At least have the courtesy to stop and see if we are all right!

Here's another tip for stroller people (I've been one myself)... when watching a show and there's a whole crowd of people.... don't sit in the front row with your gigantic stroller blocking everyone else's view. Park it on the side and hold your child during the show.

I think you need to be a little more aware of your surroundings if you are being hit that often with strollers. you know, anticipation, peripheral vision, that sort of thing.

I agree that's good advice but don't blame the victim. For the rest of our trip... we were constantly looking behind us in crowd situations making sure we were not being tailed by a stroller. But should I really have to walk with one eye looking behind me? The incident with the person hitting DS6 -- DS was behind the rope marking the parade route pointing at something (his arm was extended over the rope, and the person who clipped DS's arm was running and pushing the stroller very close to the rope. He was going so fast, had no control of the stroller.

As a police officer, being hit with a stroller by accident at a CROWDED tourist destination, I would not take a report. Now if you feel you can chase someone down and illegally detain them, you will have some issues to deal with yourself. These threads get old. We get the point. You have stroller issues.

Wow, I have never had such bad luck. If they are trying to intentionally run into people and hurt them, then yes by all means find security.

But if they are just distracted and trying to navigate the crowds, then no. I agree people should always stop, especially if there is an injury, and see what they can do until help arrives.

I gave and I got this week so I empathize all around.

All it takes while navigating one of those Hum-V stroller thingys is one thing to distrake you...a DH yelling direction at you, your baby dropping their lovey, fireworks going off in the distant and wham...you are off course. I had a few nearby rams and ran over one ladies toes during spectacle of lights. I of course apologized profusely...it was a situation where she kind of walked in my path versus my poor driving.

On the receiving end my DH rammed my ankles twice...I had stopped and he didn't, both times.

It does hurt! Those with strollers (including myself) need to go slow in congested areas...and those with ankles need to get out of the way...HA!

That last line cracked me up! I instantly got the image of a wild crazy man pushing his out of control stroller down Main St. I have been hit with a stroller and have accidently hit others with my stroller, but every incident ended with an "OH MY, I'm so sorry! Are you ok?"

To be honest, I probably take out more people with my shopping cart rather than my stroller. :rotfl:

I don't have stroller issues... I have issues with people hitting us with strollers and then cowardly running away. I'm curious about what Disney's security policy is on this. That's why I'm asking if anyone has 1st hand experience. Disney must have a policy for how to handle a guest complaining about another guest causing injury. I'd like to hear about other people's experiences.

Being a crowded tourist destination does not give people the right to cause injury. If someone causes injury and I ask them to stop, but they run off....? What would you do if I accidentally crashed my car into yours, or rode my bicycle into you... and didn't stop and took off?

You could also increase agility for DW by doing some Mike Wasowski/Sully type work before heading out the parks...you know

scaryfeet, scaryfeet, scaryfeet STROLLER!
scaryfeet, scaryfeet, scaryfeet, scaryfeet DOUBLE STROLLER!

The 911 call would probably go over as well as someone who did not get enough chicken nuggets.

"911 what's your emeregency?"

"My wife was hit by a big plastic stroller"

911 "where was she hit sir"

"At Disneyworld"

911 "No sir I mean where on her body"

"On her ankle"

911 "you mean she was ran into by someone pushing it through Disneyworld"

"yes"

911 "so it was not done on purpose and she is not injured?"

"she is injured, she got a scratch. I need the police here so I can get a report and file leagal action against this guy this guy"

911 "You know who did it?"

"Yes I have him in a half nelson waiting for the police"

911 "where exactly in WDW are you sir"

"On Main St. in front of the confectionary"

911 "I will have an officer there shortly"

Guess why they are comming.

Who needs to contact the police! When attacked by a stroller my preferred method of resolution is to remove my shirt and challenge the offender to a bare knuckle boxing match.

Are you for real :confused3

Is there anyone with real experiences on this topic who can share how they handled a similar situation?

Thanks for the judgemental comments. It's disturbing that some people think it's not a big deal to cause injury to another guest and run away. I'm not talking about someone bumping into another person... there was real injury here and it could have been worse.

During our last trip, DW was hit hard enough to cause a cut and 5 inch scrape and 24 hours of pain. The person who hit her knew it but kept on going quickly in another direction.

Would it make a difference if DW had been knocked down to the ground and caused a broken ankle and knocked out her front teeth from hitting the ground and we had to go to the hospital and cancel the remainder of our trip?
Do you think I should just scrape up DW off the pavement and bid the attacker some pixie dust while they take off in another direction, caring less about if DW is OK or not?

Yeah it's a real shame about all those strollers at Disney. Why do they allow kids in that place anyway?

It's called an accident. I highly doubt anyone used their child as a battering ram to assault your wife.

And I've had skinned knees that sound worse. Actually, on my honeymoon I fell down a poorly-paved sidewalk on a hill. I have scars from it.

Should I sue the bahamas for their sidewalk? No. It's an accident. I got over over.

As you should as well...

If that happened from a stroller blow it would remind me of when Ron Burgundy discusses things with his dog Baxter.

"What? You pooped in the refrigerator? And you ate the whole... wheel of cheese? How'd you do that? Heck, I'm not even mad; that's amazing."

Is Disney willing to sprinkle extra pixie dust and go the extra yard, er, mile to smooth things over and help maintain a family atmosphere that way. As opposed to invite chasing down the miscreant? Particularly if it was a Disney stroller?

How about license plates for strollers. Disney strollers would come with them; those bringing in strollers must obtain a license plate (register but no examination or charge).

Once the detainor announces "citizens arrest" or similar, detaining is not illegal. An attempt by the detainee to escape is illegal. The detainee can claim excessive force but not illegal detention yet. The detainor can expect to obtain identification to permit suing for damages prior to releasing the detainee, and, depending on how egregious it looked, optionally pressing assault charges.
