Shutters?

Staying at Caribbean Beach Resort. Just made dinner reservations at Shutters, Any comment on the restaurant?

It was one of our favorite meals when we were there in January. They've changed the menu since we were there, so I can't make any specific recommendations as far as food goes, but everything we had was delicious and the atmosphere was very nice.

We really want to fit this one in at some point on our next trip because reviews have been really good for them the past couple of years. We haven't dined there ourselves, but when we stayed at CBR last year the other guests raved about it. The steak was mentioned in particular.

Shutters was an unexpected treat! The service was excellent and the food delicious. If you are staying at CBR, this is a gem that is not only convenient to your stay, but certainly a lovely experience, IMO.

Shutters used to get savagely bad reviews across the board - we're talking "Tonys"-like bad - so I'm happy to see it's gotten so much better. It's been a while but the 2-3 times I've eaten there were perfectly OK. Especially when the chef made me an off-menu item to accommodate my cardiac diet.

I stayed at CB last April, I was there for the Star Wars race. My first night there I dined alone because my son wasn't flying in until later. I ate at Shutters (walk in, no ADR, but it was EARLY--I think they had just opened.) I was specifically looking to "carbo load" so I chose the chicken and pasta dish and it was actually EXCELLENT. The service was wonderful too. I would absolutely eat there again if staying at CB!

NOTE1: I had previously pretty well trashed this eatery. However, I had heard good comments lately, and decided to revisit the restaurant.

NOTE2: The eatery used to be nothing special, and even on the "bad" side. It has an array of "Caribbean Inspired" food, However, it has been doing A LOT better in the past 8-10 months. I do not classify this as a super-duper type of eatery, but more than worthwhile if you are staying at CBR. I would not go out of my way to visit from another resort, but on-site guests should easily enjoy the food. It is still overpriced, even for Disney, but the quality is significantly improved.

I tried Shutters in September while staying at CBR. The nice thing was we were able to get reservations about an hour before. There were three in our party and we all got the ribeye. They were very good with substitutions, I got the mac & cheese instead of veggies. The server let us know we could add on the scallops or fried shrimp if on the dining plan. The steaks were all cooked perfectly and very good. The mac & cheese was the most amazing thing I ate, loved it! They give you a lot of scallops for the add on, they were tender and yummy. The fried shrimp was a little over done, I would get the scallops next time. We also ordered the wings appetizer. While they were good, I do prefer buffalo wings and would probably not order again. We were so full we skipped dessert. I would highly recommend going, it was a pleasant surprise.

I did notice that the people at the table next to us complained about their ribeye, they told the server it was too fatty. The chef immediately came out, apologized and got them a new steak right away. I was impressed with how they handled that issue.
