Shutters Welcome Aboard Raffle

Has anyone here ever done the Shutters raffle on embarkation day? Does this get much of a crowd typically?

I've gone. There's a bit of a crowd, but in the end, only one person wins. If it was me and one other person, I'd still lose, lol.

They raffle off a photo prize of some sort on the first day. Its advertised in the navigator and I think is usually a digital package of photographs

What is a shutters raffle?

Shutters is the photo provider on the ships. There will be photographers set up taking photos of guests right before they embark the ship, it's normally at this time that they are handing out raffle tickets to guests to fill out which can win you a free photo package. It's usually drawn later in the night on embarkation day, and you must be present to win.

I won it back in the day when printed photos were still a thing on board, it used to be a set number of prints. They allowed me to pay a small difference and upgrade the prize to a full digital package

I won on our first Disney cruise. It was April 2017. You need to be present to win. I believe there were only about 15-20 cabins represented. The prize, at that time was 10 digital prints.

I did not know that DCL was doing raffles.

We just won this on our Alaskan cruise. There will be cards to fill out on the Shutters desk. Luckily we returned for the drawing. It was later in the evening, and there were only a few of us present. It was a nice surprise!

I think it's pretty much only Shutters, and the Spa that do a raffle on the first day or so. Oh and sometimes the jewelry places?

I went to the raffle on the Wonder. There was maybe 15-20 people there and I won 2 free 8X10 prints. Someone else won the big photo package.

We tried doing the raffle on embarkation day on our WBTA last year, thinking entries were available at the counter (as they have been in the past) but they said the entry ticket was given during the boarding photo, which we had skipped (we had some Palo business to take care of!). Not sure if it just happens on European cruises or what, but FYI

Thanks for the heads up! DH and I usually skipped the boarding photo, but this next cruise I want to get some pix, because it’s been 10 years since our first cruise and I would love to have a photo of my 3 sons. I would love to compare age 15 with age 25, etc.

It's funny, the time I won it was purely by chance I happened to be walking through Shutters on the Fantasy and wondered why everyone was standing around waiting. Then I remembered. Every time I've remembered beforehand it's been a waste of time going

Yes its on the navigator but in the info on Shutters on the back page rather than the main grid which is why people miss it.

Not that I ever win anything but if I happened to win and had pre-bought the package would they refund what I'd already paid? For our last cruise I bought the package that got all their pictures on a memory stick and we loved it. The lighting in their pictures came out much better than mine and we got more pictures of the 3 of us than we would have otherwise.

Yes. The pre-purchased packages can be cancelled for a full refund regardless of reason, provided it's done before the final night of the cruise.
