Shutters on the Beach Resort, Santa Monica

Has anyone ever stayed at this resort using their points, and would you recommend it? I've read so-so reviews of this place saying it was rather rundown, and needing updates in the rooms, staff was rude, very expensive, etc. I don't want to waste the points if that is the case...any help would be appreciated.

I haven't stayed there but Travel Chanel has had an episode on it, I think it was "Grand Hotels". Look on their website and see if you can find when it will air again.

I have stayed at the shutters on the beach and was impressed. Granted that was 4 years ago. The showers are awesome. Everyroom has a surround sound speaker system and you can view the TV from the jaccuzzi tub. It is right on the beach and I thought it was great. Eric
