****** shutdown

Just when I signed up and was getting addicted to the website... I figured it would happen, but I'm really sad about it. Back to the worthless DVC member website...:(
 
This is to bad. They shut down an amazing resource for members. Wish these corporate idiots would actually smarten up once in awhile. Fine if you want to shut it down from a 3rd party running it. But at least realize how popular it is and implement it in your own site.
 
I was loving this app. I will close this week on a VGC purchase. DH and I are planning a trip for early Sept. I was keeping a close eye on availability and praying my membership number makes it in time to book before the 7 month window opens to other DVC members.

Hope it comes back!
 

Fantastic app. Thank you for creating it and sharing it with everyone. It was great to see the availability of all the resorts at one glance.

I hope DVC bought it from the creator so they can upgrade there app with his/ hers. I had to wait 35 minutes for member service 3 times in the last two weeks just to update my party and link my reservations because DVC can't do it thru the website:scared1::confused3.



Sad to see it go.
 
Loved that site-just used it last night. I also hope Disney bought it (but doubt it). There is no way the techies at Disney could produce an application as good as that on their own.
 
Sorry to see it go. I enjoyed using it very much. Now it's back to the tedious way of looking up to see what was available. Ugh!

I just thought I should apologize for my worthless website comment. During the night my BW wait list came through. I'm a happy girl about that, but still unhappy about the wonderful ****** being shut down. I wish he could sell the app to each of us so that when we were checking for availability it would be under each of our personal member #'s and not to him. I would be happy to pay for the app. Thanks for the use of it albeit short lived.

That is a great idea--although if the issue is bandwidth we might find that makes the problem worse (instead of one person checking, a bunch of inquiries...) but i agree, it would be great to be able to use your own membership ;)

It's not an app. It's a webserver running programs (likely PHP or ASP or .NET).
 
Just saw this why was it shut down? Disney I'm guessing
 
Seems like the logical thing for Disney to do is to buy this great app from the developer and then make it accessible to members only through their website. It would save us all a lot of time when we searched. Pretty sure that won't happen though as Disney IT folks aren't known for being particularly clever. Oh well, thank you to the developer for while it lasted.
 
Thank you to the developer! It was a lovely, useful application. I enjoyed checking in on it just to see what improvements you made to its functionality. Whoever you are, you do good work!

I'm sorry it got shut down, and we won't get to watch you working with it - it was clearly a labor of love for you and much, much appreciated by all of us here in the DVC community.
 
Oh, I am so bummed! But mucho appreciation to the developer. Thanks for taking the time to make something so wonderful for DVC folks; it was awesome.
 
I agree lets hope DVC realizes how much we liked it and replicates it on the DVC website. (Know we all know it can be done.)

I can't believe this happened just as I learned about it. I was wondering why I wasn't able to find the App. I'm sure that Disney had it removed because they were either in the works of creating it or negotiated to purchase the app because of so many complaints regarding how tedious and time consuming it is to search one at a time. I am also thinking that it would help to lighten the load on the web site to accommodate all the new member traffic that is being generated.
 
My guess is that Disney didn't like non members looking at room inventory and they didn't like a robot program looking up availability for 2 hours at a time every 6 hours.

Disney advertises all of the wonderful vacations that you can take and a program like this allows potential buyers to find out that booking a room could be a challenge.
