Shrinking Tink: Trading Pounds for Pixie Dust

I know I have been MIA recently, but I'm back. I think my last post was about my new job, which is the reason why I haven't been posting much.

But, I'm happy to report that I'm still here and still losing...at least inches. My weight has been pretty stable lately and I haven't really lost any more pounds, but I do know I'm still losing inches, because...drum roll please....I am now in medium shirts! :woohoo:

Back in March when I started my new "lifestyle" I was in XL shirts and 20 pants. Now I'm in medium shirts/12 jackets/16 pants. Still carrying some "junk in my trunk" but, I don't think that will ever totally go away. I'm pretty sure no matter what I do, I will always be a "pear."

I credit my workouts for helping me really tone my upper body, because honestly my eating habits have not been very diet like lately. :rotfl: During the week, I do pretty good sticking to my eating plan, but on the weekends it's a whole different ball game...one that seems to include bagels and/or sticky buns and french fries.

But I figure if I am eating carp and still losing, just imagine how much I would lose if I ate better! So now that I am settling into work, that's my new goal....eat better and continue my workouts and who nows, next month when I remember to post again, I'll have more good news to share!:yay:

I bit the bullet and decided to order Turbo Jam today :cool1: I definitely need to kick my workouts into high gear to tone all the flab I've been losing. Or else I'll look like a melted candle! :scared: Anyway, I heave heard all good things about Turbo Jam so I bought into it.

  CONGRATS! That is so awesome and I am so happy for you. Doesn't it feel great to buy smaller clothes? Aside from having to la out more $$ that is.:rotfl: I was so happy when I bought mine until I looked at my checking account. :scared1: It took away from the Disney fund! :sad2:

Good for you!! That's great!! :goodvibes

That's my problem exactly! Emphasis on french fries! But unfortunately for me I seem to undo all of the progress I've made during the week.:headache:

Please let me know if you like it. I'm always looking for something new to break up the routine.

Hey all! Sorry I've been MIA the past few days, but packing the house up has been monopolizing all my time and work was crazy towards the end of the week.

First things first - congrats to all you LOSERS!!! ;)

(Isn't it so fun to say it and mean it and know it's a good thing? LOL)

Second thing - I recently bought the Hungry Girl cookbook and it's got some excellent stuff in there! I can't wait to be in the new place to start cooking! (And on a gas stove, no less! We have electric now and I hate it! I burn or dry out everything!) There's also a Hungry Girl website which has great tips/recipes AND a daily newsletter you can subscribe to. Comes very highly recommended by yours truly!

I hope you're all having a great weekend. I should be checking in again later.

:flower3:

French fries are EVIL!

I will definitely let you know how it goes with Turbo Jam. I was surprised that it was already shipped. When I read reviews online people said theirs weren't shipped for up to 2 weeks after ordering! That had me nervous because I really want to tone up before I leave, but it shipped out yesterday.

HELLOOOOO ALL!

Been back from Disney for a couple of weeks now and settling into a new place. I'm ready to be back on track. How's everyone else doing?

My new "Disney" weight loss goal is to lose 1lb for every week until my Bounceback trip next year. So, right now that means, beginning next week (when I'll do my "official" weigh-in and measurements), my goal is to lose 49lbs before September of next year. Could I do more? Maybe, but I thought this was realistic. It would put me within about 10-15lbs of my overall goal. I'll post my measurements/weight here and check in with the progress as often as I can.

Anyone else have new goals?

I really like this idea? Mind if I steal it for myself? It just feels so doable.

I went from being so good before vacation, to okay while on vacation, to completely falling apart the past few weeks. My biggest eating problem is with sweets, and I've been sucumbing to every temptation lately. I don't want to admit to how many peppermint patties and carmel kisses I've been eating recently.

Pulling all my fall/winter clothes out has been a bit of a slap in the face. I'd forgotten the fact that I really have no pants that fit properly. I have a whole stack of them that are about a size too small. I put them away at the end of the summer figuring that I'd be good over the summer, and I'd be fine come fall. That didn't happen, and I'm still facing a pile of pants that don't fit. I don't want to waste money buying new stuff when I have so many that will fit once I drop about 10-15 lbs.

My new goals are as follows:

1. Get into my existing pants by Thanksgiving. (or thereabouts)
2. Bump up my exercise plan. Right now I'm really only taking my yoga class once a week, and walking to and from the office. The plan is to work out 3 days to start and work up to 5.
3. Hit my goal of a size 8 by my next Disney trip next December.

Yes, please!

Ah, I'm the polar opposite. I crave salty stuff.

These are EXCELLENT goals! Let us know how we can help!

Wings, I could have practically written your post.

I was good before vacation, on vacation did well with some splurges I was okay with, and totally fell apart when I got home, gaining back at least 5 pounds I'm currently working on losing again.

And about the giving in to every temptation thing. Yup. Me too.

Ugh. It's so hard at this time of year. And I don't mean that as a cop out. Just with the holidays coming, Halloween Candy to Thanksgiving to Christmas things it's going to be so hard to be good.

But I finally started working out again. I've been going once a week, which is not enough, and I'm hoping to bump it up this week.

Why is that once it gets cold out our motivation just tanks?

Halloween candy is what gets me every year. I used to work next door to a Target, and would do major damage buying and eating 70% off Reeses peanut butter cups after the holiday.

I definitely think it's the weather too. Once it starts getting cool, and the days are shorter all I want to do is hole up on my couch and munch. At least when it's warm and the days are lighter I am doing more things. It's definitely my worst battle.

It was. And when we finally finished off the 70% off halloween candy, it was usually time for the 70% off Christmas candy.

I gained alot for those three months when I worked there.

My boss keeps refilling her candy dish with mini-Reese's cups. I want to slap her hand every time she does it! LOL

So I found a nifty little weight loss tool in Borders this weekend:

This little puppy is the perfect size (fits in a purse), is spiral bound, and has a spot to record just about EVERYTHING you could think of while following ANY weight loss plan (WW, Atkins, the "I'm not eating anything with a 'b' in it" diet, etc.). It has an area for food, physical activity, water intake, daily goals, weight, your overall fitness plan, measurements. It's great! And it was only $9.99. Money well spent.

I took all of my measurements on Saturday (and then cried in a corner for about an hour) and will record my weight today when I get home (unfortunately I spaced it this morning) as my official starting weight. I've modified my original plan to lose 1lb per week until my 30th birthday (a year away) instead of just 1lb per week until my next Disney trip (in case for some unforeseen reason the trip gets cancelled).

I've dubbed it my "Healthy for 30" plan.
The food part starts this week.
The workouts next week.
My daily goals start today.

I've decided that my daily goals will remain the same for 21 days straight so that then they're pretty much routine (it takes roughly 3 weeks to form a habit, good or bad). My first daily goal is to drink 64oz. of water each day, with as little substitution for pure H2O with non-caffeinated drinks as possible.

How's everyone else making out?

Um, falling off the wagon here.

Some unexpected something arrived a bit early, and I've got major hormonal issues. :lmao:

So I'm not doing well right now. I'm hoping next week will be better, and I can really get started. I admire your goals though. I'd love to try to hold myself to the same thing, especially on the water. I know I don't drink enough water. And I may have to take a look at that book, it looks great!

I know a lot of studies have been done, and people who write down what they eat lose more weight over people who don't time and time again. Perhaps it's something I should consider! :thumbsup2

I've been avoiding taking measurements and getting on the scale since vacation. I don't know why I've been craving sweets so badly lately.

So far so good today. I had a diet shake for lunch, and I'm getting awfully hungry now. Thinking of running down to the Starbucks in the lobby of my building to pick up a yogurt cup. I think the shakes are going to have to go for the unforeseeable future.

When it was hot out they were fine, but since the weather has been getting colder, I've been craving more substantial food. Maybe that will help out a bit with the sugar cravings.

Um, falling off the wagon here.

Hang on. Lemme catch you.

I know I don't drink enough water.

I don't either. And I KNOW it because my lips get so dry and yet STILL I don't drink enough. I'm committing to making it a habit this time.

God's honest truth, you wanna know why I hate taking this much water in?
All. The. Peeing.

And I may have to take a look at that book, it looks great!

Seriously, the best parts are:
1.) It was rather inexpensive for it's quality. And I had a coupon.
2.) It's portable. BIG bonus.
3.) I've made a million spreadsheets, lists, etc. To have it put together so efficiently in one little place is PRICELESS!

Perhaps it's something I should consider! :thumbsup2

Even if you aren't watching calories, etc., actually SEEING what you're putting in your mouth makes you more health conscious.

You know, I read something recently, though I can't recall where, that says if, when we're getting ready to change our eating habits, we tell ourselves, "This is the last time I'll have this..." or "I can't have suchandsuch until I've met my goal..." that it makes you want that thing more and sabotages your plan. If you just admit that, say, the candy's there and you can indulge in a piece from time to time, it helps stem the cravings.

since the weather has been getting colder, I've been craving more substantial food.

Me too. I'm craving coffee more often too, which negates the whole "trying to avoid caffeine" thing. But I'm doing ok. I opted for an orange juice instead.

I'm reminded of an 80s song. :lmao:

Have we stopped counting the weird things in common? ;)

Me, too! Especially at work. Because it's not always convenient at the bank to be taking, oh, I don't know, 8 potty breaks during a 6 hour shift! :lmao:
