Hi, I'm not a creative cook. I have some shrimp & some Monterey Cheese sauce (from TastefullySimple.com). The sauce says you can use over pasta as an alfredo sauce, add chicken seafood or beef, or use with vegetables or baked potatoes.

Now, I don't like shrimp or vegetables, but DH does. So I thought I would make him something nice with it. I'm planning pasta, cheese sauce & shrimp. (Does that even go together?)

What vegetables would you add to this dish?
What seasonings? (I also have the Seasoned Salt from Tastefully Simple that he really likes.)

Hey, & just to keep the theme going, I thought I would make the Beer Bread mix (from Tastefully Simple) that I've had in the cupboard. It says you can add italian seasonings to it. Thought it would be yummy to dip in the cheese sauce too.

I know I sound like a commercial. LOL I don't work for them or sell their stuff. It's just that I went to a party not too long ago where I spent too much. And now want to use some of it up while I'm in the mood to cook today.

Need ideas, please!!!! Thanks.

It may be just me, but I really don't like shrimp with cheese. I just don't think they go together.

If I had your ingredients I would make the pasta and use the sauce, adding in whatever vegetables you like. Two I think would be good with your dish are broccoli or asparagus.

You could serve the shrimp as shrimp cocktail for an appetizer.

I wouldn't combine shrimp and cheese either. But since you have the shrimp and pasta, why not make your husband some shrimp scampi. You can boil some brocolli and put some melted cheese on top of it.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking just from the sound of it. Never really had shrimp though.

The cheese sauce isn't too powerful if I remember right from the tasting party.

When I googled cheese & shrimp though, many recipes come up using the 2 ingredients. So, somebody must like it. LOL

Any one elses opinion on the combo?

I copied this from the Tastefully simple website

Sauteed Monterey Lemon Shrimp
Submitted by Chef Hal (MN) 2005 National Conference

Ingredients
4 - 6 large shrimp, cleaned and deveined
Lemony Pepper
2 Tbsp. olive oil
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1/2 cup dry white wine
Garlic Garlic™
1/3 cup Monterey Cheese Sauce
1 heaping Tbsp. chopped roasted red pepper from a jar
Prepared hot rice or pasta

Method
Generously coat shrimp with Lemony Pepper. Saute shrimp in olive oil over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes or until no longer pink. When shrimp is nearly done, drizzle with lemon juice; remove shrimp from skillet. Add white wine to hot skillet; continue cooking over medium-high heat until liquid is reduced by half. Sprinkle with Garlic Garlic™; add Monterey Cheese Sauce and red pepper. Stir until heated through. Add additional white wine if sauce is too thick. Return shrimp to sauce; serve with rice or pasta. Makes 1 serving.

Hey, I went to that site. How did I miss that? Thanks. I guess it does go together.

UPDATE: I made the above recipe & he liked it ALOT!!! He's thanked me several times tonight. :goodvibes I never cook anything that "fancy". He's taking the rest to work tomorrow for lunch. :teeth: :woohoo: :)

Good for you! I am glad he liked it. What did you think of it, or did you not try it since you said you don't like shrimp? My DH could not even eat my dinner tonight--he is laid up in bed with what looks like the same stomach virus as I had earlier this week.

I didn't even try it. I'm wicked fussy. I just had pasta with the plain cheese sauce along with beer bread.

Hope your DH feels better soon.

I usually just make a phone call on nights like that.
"I'll take a small cheese pie and a sausage roll please." :rotfl2:
Your dinner sounded much better. Maybe I can get DH to make it. :rolleyes1
