Show seats, how do we get good ones?

How does show seating work? Is there a time we need to line up? We have main dining (6 pm), so show will be 8:30. Is there assigned seating? Any hints?

There are no assigned seats...you show up and if you want good seats you get there early and wait in line....

You will just need to get there early if you want to sit up front. There is no seat saving. Well, it isn't allowed anyway though some people will try to save a row. Dreams was packed. We also had early seating.

We never had any problems getting good seats. The doors open about 1/2 hour before showtime. Only last minute comers had problems getting seats.

We always go about 45 minutes early and are always down up front where we want to be. No assigned seats and they do not like you saving seats. Although we have saved seats but our group comes in earlier than the time it starts getting really crowded so we haven't to actually say "these seats are saved"

We had late seating, thus the early shows. We showed up 15 minutes before show time and never had a problem getting a seat. Mind you we were on the packed NYE cruise too. Plus, in my opinion, there isn't a bad seat in the Walt Disney Theater.

Let me second TVguys comment. There isn't a bad seat in the house, just personal preference. I prefer to sit further back so I can take in more of the action at once. Some folks like to be "up close and personal"

The shows are great no matter where you sit.

For Early Dinner Seating guests...
If you gotta sit way down front you must be there early. If you want to sit in the lower section you probably want to arrive 20 minutes before the show starts to find a seat.

The down side to this is that you will be missing the "inbetween" shows - the family cabarette and family game shows. These "little" shows are some of the funest shows onboard.

To avoid this delima...change to late dinner seating. Then you only have to arrive 10-15 minutes before the show starts to get a very good seat. Then you can go to the "inbetween" shows and then go to dinner (where you have a reserved seat)

Or, when offered, do the matinees.

We never had any trouble getting seats. Our seats for Hercules were to the back of the theatre as we arrived just a few minutes before showtime. The theatre isn't huge - the back of the theatre was fine.

In true "Disney fashion" there aren't bad seats. There are better seats - whether they are worth 45 minutes of time......

The only show I wanted to be up front for was the kid's farewell show so I could see our kids.

DH, DD and I prefer to sit in the last 2 rows of the theater. We have a great view and it isn't as crowded back there as in the front (unless the house is packed, of course). When the show is over we have an easier exit. I wouldn't wait in line for a long time just to get a seat up front. Wherever you sit, enjoy the show!

My husband and I are a party of two. If we get there 30 minutes early to sit towards the front and then I have to go to the bathroom (it will inevitably happen) is he going to be "glared at" for saving my seat?

I assume the seat saving had more to do with one person saving seats for like 10 people or something but just thought I should be sure.

Is there a fair amount of leg room in these seats?

Are you allowed to bring food and beverage inside?

Yes, you are allowed to bring munchies and drinks into the theatre. In fact, they sell stuff right outside.

We've never had a problem with one of us stepping out to use the rest room, although we generally place something on the seat to make it look "occupied." We do try to be considerate and only have the "missing" one gone for a few minutes.

Many people do try to save one seat (even though technically it isn't allowed.) As to someone trying to save a whole row--if you want the seat, take it. If they yell, refer them to the cruise director! The policy is "no saving seats in the Walt Disney Theatre." The only exception I'm aware of is for special needs guests/families, and those seats are marked with DCL "Reserved" labels.

I can't imagine that anyone would mind your saving of one seat, or even two. Beyond that it gets into "iffy" territory. My husband and I have run into people trying to save entire rows twice (both times, it was the front row). We simply ignore them, and if they press the matter, we tell them to check the Navigator for the rules and to go complain to a crew member if they have a problem with it. Of course, they never do. ;)

WE have also observed people saving whole rows of seats. The kids would get there early save a whole row and have the grown ups come strolling in just as the show started. That is so rude!!!

If you are saving one or two seats for a few minutes fine, but it gets rude when its a whole row for 30 minutes.

Just curious..
What about if you are a family of five, get there early and before the show starts one or two of your little ones needs to go "potty" and one parent leaves to take them? Would people be upset by that- even like say if (hypothetically ofcourse... but my kids have been known to need to go before a movie starts if we get there early to get a good seat at our theatres here and honestly I'd rather them go then than try to wait and go halfway through the movie!) they left a personal belonging in each seat (like stuffed animal or sweater or whatever they have with them at the time)?

Personally that would not upset me... sometimes kids gotta go- yanno?
But I guess I could see how it would be hard to know if they were actually there originally or if one parent (with one or two of the kids of the party of 5 in the family) had just got there early to "save" seats for the rest of the family to arrive later. Hmmm..

??

I'm just wondering if this happened if someone here would throw a fit about it and if Disney CM's would actually say sorry your 4yr old had to go pee- your husband and 4yr old just lost their seats. Yanno?

BibbidyBobbidyBoo - don't worry!
Usually you ALL show up and when the kids have to go potty and one of the parents takes them out there will be many other people sitting around you and generally speaking they'll help you save your seats from those that come in 32 seconds before the show starts and expect to have a front row seat.

Don't worry about having to take the kids out to do their business, because once you're there, you're there. Unlike the people that send in their kids to save a row or two of seat and no one else in there party has stepped foot in the theater.

I was amazed on our last cruise (10/2/04) that one woman was saving a whole row of seats. When people asked if the seats were saved, she said yes and the "seat-seekers" just walked away, mostly without a comment. The rest of the row never showed up at all. Finally a CM came up right before the show started and started putting people in all the empty seats. Unbeliveable that someone would have the nerve to do that! I don't think that saving a seat or two for a short time would be a problem.

Generally the kids and I get there early, and keep a seat for my husband, we have never had a problem, I also have had to take one of the girls to the bathroom, while my husband and the other girls saved seats, that was also fine. I believe that as mentionned before the only time there is a problem, is when entire rows of seats are saved. How rude!!
