show is up 5/19

Just downloading now, looking forward to the free dining discussion - this is our first year onsite and we have the dining plan, even thoI've already booked most of our ADR's (just can't decide on the last 3 or 4) this will be pretty useful :)

:goodvibes

I have to agree that consistency is a problem at Disney. We had a terrible experience at T Rex and would never have returned if not for my friend insisting we do it for her son's B'day. It was a 180! Great food and service! I also had a wonderful experience at Grand Floridian Cafe, but its been several years. I have given up on trying to get into the much lauded Le Cellier due to the podcast comments. No need for sub par.

I would love more information on the Thanksgiving dinner at Boatwright. We did Whispering Canyon last time. I want to do something different. I was told Liberty Tree... but I'm hesitant to pay $17.00 or so for my 7year old to eat three bites. I want to go where she can get a kids meal. She doesn't eat turkey and dressing.

I would also like to know what the deal is with Fantasmic dining package when show time is 6:30pm. For our November trip, the only show during our stay is Tuesday at 6:30. Does that mean dinner is lunch? Because if you eat at dinner time, you'll miss the show? I'd like to do it the, because we can't get in this August.

And one more.... I am totally new to itunes and its got me confounded. I can't see to find out how to remove the podcasts off my ipod that I might not want anymore even if I haven't listened to it or if I listened to only part of it. I am behind in my podcasts, and I think I'd rather remove the old ones and just worry about catching up on the newest ones. How do I make that selection?

Mindy ....to remove the podcasts you don't want, uncheck the boxes next to them and then sync your ipod again. It will remove the ones you unchecked.

As far as different experiences, I think it depends on what you have and when you eat. I loved yak and yeti and Pete on an earlier podcast hated it . However I had the steak and tempura shrimp and it was good. But I could see how the asian dishes could be screwed up easier.

I also disagree with most of the boards about how wonderful Le Cellier is. I did make a ressie this yr but purely because I think my dbf needs to try the cheddar cheese soup once in his lifetime. I do remember 4 or 5 yrs ago and it was great then...but I think it has gone downhill.

But to each his own...each experience can be different.

Thanks for the iTunes advice. I think that's what I did, but I keep ending up with the April podcasts still there. I'm lucky I caught up to last week!

Pete hated Yak & Yeti! Gosh... we loved it too! I don't remember what I had, but as I don't eat shellfish, it wasn't the shrimp anything. Whatever it was yum.. but I give a super yum to the dessert I had. It was sweet cream cheese filled wontons skewers with pineapple and a side scoop of ice cream and vanilla sauce. It was so good I was thinking of just going for dessert so I could have it. I haven't gotten any ADR's for my August trip. My DH would rather meals be a spontaneous choice based on where we are when we get hungry!

I heard all about that cheddar cheese soup! I can't envision soup and cheese together? Personally, I on a chilly April evening in 2007 I had the potato soup (or maybe it was referred to as Chowder) at Rose & Crown and it was so good! I also had their apple crisp and it was as good as mine! I know people say England is not known for their food, but... I beg to differ!

When you click on libraries, and then podcasts (or any library really) there are little check boxes on the left side of each item. Those check boxes don't seem to do anything. When I click on my device, all of the podcast that I've gotten from iTunes become listed on my device menu. That is where the check box works. In that menu, if I click on a certain podcast, it will be included when I sync and not included if it is unchecked. Whether a podcast appears in the list on my device (click my device, then click Disunplugged, then look at the list that comes up) seems to have nothing to do with whether or not its check box is checked in the library menu. :confused3 what are those check boxes at the left of the library menu items for?:confused3

!

If you check off "manually manage music and videos" (in itunes, options), then you can manually select which podcast to delete.

Ok, thank you. i'll find that option and see what it does. Its amazing how confusing "simple" can be! Probably because its not rocket science and my DH is a rocket scientist.. sort of. :rotfl:

Regarding the discussion about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and the "smallness" of the shops, walkways, etc. I was wondering if Universal may have had to work with J. K. Rowling in some fashion, and maybe there was a priority to be faithful to the depiction in the books over some more stylized theme-park representation.

As for the recommendations, I felt that I agreed with the majority of the counter and table service recommendations. I relunctantly crossed Tangierine Cafe off my list because they served me cold, congealed lamb on the schwarma platter when I went there during DAP. I have never had cold meat in the past and I found it gross.

And Yachtsman's steak disappointed me. The rest of the meal items were great. Maybe I needed to order the Porterhouse to get a decent steak. The piece of meat they called a filet mignon was offensive. Maybe they served me the DCL version!

And yes, counter service at DHS is lacking! I do agree with Don that Starring Rolls is the best option!

I hate sounding like a fact-checker, but I believe you can use DDP credits for the Fantasmic Dinner Package. I wasn't completely sure, but the FAQ thread on the Dining Plan sub-forum confirms that you can use DDP for it.
