Shouldn't a camera last longer than 3 months???

My DH bought me a Canon S2 IS in April... Grabbed it to use it today... (last used about a week ago)... and no picture in viewfinder... Camera comes on but it is like the lens cap is still on... Just black... takes black pictures too... I am so bummed!!! We are taking a short trip next week and I most likely won't have my camera... :guilty:

Thank God for warrenties. Send that sucker back!
 
Could the display be turned off? Just a thought, did it once myself and thought i was taking black pics too.

try pressing "MENU" or "FUNC" buttons. If the LCD is still dead, you got no choice but send it for repair.

and to answer your question, no, it's not acceptable for a camera to be broken after 3 months (if it's never been dropped, banged, left in the heat/cold, mishandled). Especially not for a Canon.
