Should we split our stay?

My daughter and I have a 12 day trip planned from Dec 27 – Jan 7.

The last couple of times we’ve stayed on site (last year BC, year before PHB). Those trips were only a week long and both times we felt we needed ‘just one more’ day. I’ve got us booked at the Royal Pacific for the entire stay.

I’m wondering if that may be too much time at U. FOTL is great… and we’ve been staggering the New Years fireworks show from year to year, so maybe a ‘better idea’ might be to stay at RP thru the 1st and then split the stay doing 5 or 6 days at Animal Kingdom.

I’m not sure if this is the proper forum… but I’d like to hear from those that like both DW and U, and have stayed longer than a week.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Universal Resort is great, I love it. That being said though spending almost two weeks there might be too long of a stay. I honestly think it is a good idea and split the trip and spend the last few days at Disney. (And I assume that when you say Animal Kingdom, you mean Animal Kingdom Lodge)

I would, However I would save the Universal Resort for last. Who would want to wait on line, after FOTL.

I would definitely split the stay. I, too, love Universal and Disney, but I couldn't stay 12 nights at either place, to be honest. I would start with Disney and end up at Universal. I agree, you will have FOTL to look forward to.

We always split our stays and we usually stay only five nights. We did that this year and we are doing it again in January - three nights at the Boardwalk Inn at Disney and two nights at Portofino Bay. Can't wait.

Have fun!

I think my longest stay at Universal has been 5 nights. I always leave thinking it would be nice to stay another night or two...That being said, 12 nights would probably be a bit much. Even though I am not a Disney person, I would love to stay AKL. I would probably do that if I had the chance. The other thing I might do if I had 12 nights would be to stay at 2 or even all three UO resorts and spend a fair amount of time relaxing at the resorts. I would also plan to do Discovery Cove which would get me access to Sea World for a week as well and I could sprinkle in a bit of Shamu while enjoying UO. Of course traveling in Dec-Jan is a bit questionable in terms of being able to sit around the pool. :paw:
