We are going to be there Dec 23-27 which i know is going to be a super busy time...wondering how bad it is to take Disney transportation or if i would be better off renting a car?

Thanks,
Jessica

Disney always puts extra busses into service at peak times so it should not be a problem.

I have rented a car the last couple of trips and the convenience was great. The choice really comes down to how your group travels and the $$ for the car. We rented a car the last couple of times because we now have small children and we were not sure how they would handle the heat in the parks and the wait for the busses. Other than that we have never had a problem with the Disney Transportaion System.

Unless you plan to spend time off site, my advice is not to rent a car. As already mentioned, Disney will add additional buses when it is warranted.

I would not want to drive in the traffic during Christmas time - too many cars with too many people who do not know where they are going! Even if I have to wait, I'd rather let a "professional" deal with the crowded roads - way less stressful. I'm on vacation!

Best wishes -

Been to WDW over 35 times since 1977 , have driven to get there but never used our car on property. Thats part of the reason we like Disney, free transportation, different modes, its all part of the vacation. The waits are not bad, no longer than walking to find your car and driving in the world on roads you do not know. The feeling of plopping down in a super A/Ced Disney bus is great, to avoid long bus lines just don't leave the parks at closing but stroll your way to the bus stop and let all the sooner leave.

To us, a rental car is a needless expense, Disney transportation is park of the fun, be it boat, bus or monorail its all Disney, its free and they know the ins and outs of the roads.

I'm in the camp that always rents a car - no matter what time of year.

I looked at rental car rates - they are $70+ per day... so my vote is not to rent the car unless prices come down.
