Just a thought...I love Walt Disney world and the cast members have done an awesome job overall in years past that Ive been there, to make my vacation extremely enjoyable. I know the new system has to be extremely difficult for them, I would be in a bad mood if I had people screaming at me all day. I am going in May and was thinking what could I do to hand back some Pixie dust to some of the cast members...yes I know we pay a lot for this vacation but I also know working where your appreciated goes a long way to sooth ruffled feathers..Any body have trips coming up that might want to Pixie dust a cast member?? LOl, Im not sure what I could do, any ideas?

Definitely talk to them! I hated feeling invisible and loved when guests would talk to me. If you see a CM in one of the restrooms, let them know that they do an especially great time of keeping things clean. If you love the service at a restaurant, be it table or counter service, make sure you get the names of the person who served you and tell a manager. Managers always hear complaints so it's nice to hear the good stuff. And you can always go by guest relations and brag on a cast member. They will usually get a shout out by their manager at the meeting the next day. :thumbsup2

Good idea!

We've often thought of this too. But thinking that they may not have much if any pocket space to hang on to something, and they're probably not supposed to accept gifts. But what really comes to mind is the fact that it is the "experience" that makes the pixie dust for us. So give the CMs an "experience" of their own:

Smile and say "hi" to them. Stop and chat, if they're willing. Many of them love guest interactions.
Treat them like the real people they are (with feelings)
Be polite, do what they tell you do to.
Say thank you often.
If you see a guest behaving badly toward a CM, make an extra effort to show them some kindness after it's over, if you can. Even a wink or a little friendly acknowledgment can take some of the bite out of the encounter. :hug:

They spend so much time and effort making sure our day is magical. We like to spend a little effort acknowledging them and their effort. On the way out of evening EMH, for example, we thank the CMs for staying late for us.

We see a lot of people who leave their courtesy and common sense at home while they're on vacation. CMs see this every day.

God bless the CMs!! :angel:

I am wishing them a "Happy St Patricks Day!
I have made up small business cards and am attaching a
Thanks~O' Mint to it. (Mint lifesaver).

I'll post a pic if I can

What a kind heart you have! :-)

I wonder if CM could accept something like a small Starbucks gift card. It would be not exactly giving them cash, just buying them a cup of coffee. Surely that would be ok?

I also think I read something about CM not being allowed to accept tips unless it's offered 3 times.

LOL! Hmm..A star bucks card is good idea too, just something small for fun...and to say Thank you!

If Disney is anything like Universal and Sea World are, CMs are *NOT* allowed to accept monetary gifts or gifts of any value from guests. I doubt a "thanks o mint" would be a problem, but trying to slip them a few dollars or a gift card for a tip or something would be a no-no. If you really want to make them happy, stop by guest services at the end of the day and leave a guest comment, or write a letter to guest services with the names and specifics of what the CMs did to make your stay better.

What I do at least once or twice every trip is go to guest relations and tell them a cast member who has helped make our trip extra magical. What they do is fill out a card and I heard from a cast member that they actually give them to the cast members so they are aware of how something they may have considered a little gesture goes a long way.
Once again I heard this it may not be true but these are considered (slightly but considered none the less) when it comes to promotions. Not sure if it's true but still.
I've also made comments to the bathroom attended cast members that Disney always has the cleanest restrooms and thank them.
I agree, people need to be recognized for the good not just be complained about when there is a problem :)

Always make a point to ask them for a GSF card! You can fill this out right then and there and they will give it to a manager or ask you to. This is Disney's official way of recognizing good service!!

On one of our trips, I made up a bunch of buttons to say "thank you" to those cast members who went above and beyond for us. (There are always several, every single day.)

Most cast members were really pleased to receive them and seemed quite surprised and complimented. A couple pinned them to their uniforms (which I'm pretty sure isn't allowed, so hopefully they removed them before they got caught). Some were just confused. And a rare few seemed a bit insulted, which was a pity.

All in all, while it was a fun experiment, I ultimately decided that I prefer just talking to castmembers and telling them how much we appreciate them. That, and filling out the cards at Guest Relations.

Yes!!! What an awesome idea!!! Some ideas:
1. Pre-made thank you stickers, cards;
2. Just taking the time to say thanks ;
3. Carry a bunch of smarties and maybe call them pixie candy and hand it to them!!

Whatever the idea how cool to start a thread on it!! I wonder if we could start a movement/thread where people go and post back what they did???

Non tipped positions are not supposed to accept monetary gifts and can get fired for doing so. I wouldn't put them in that position.

I am never sure about giving them a token because Disney is pretty strict on their uniform standards.

But, from the CM's on the board, the best thing you can do is be polite to them, talk to them. And the best is to send a letter or email AFTER you get home. Apparently the fact that you remembered beyond your vacation goes a bit farther than doing so in the parks.

This is the perfect thread for this, in the past we usually just tip mouse keeping in envelops that say "thank you for helping make our trip more magical" does anyone have any other cute ways to leave tips?

Yes!! I would love to start a movement, to show our appreciation for the cast members who do try their best to help and make our trips magical. A little pixie dust to the ones who are kind and patient....I am going to do something for our May trip but still considering options:)
