Should we go on a cruise?

We are an older couple who don't swim and we don't like the heat. We've never been on a cruise, either. I've done everything Disney many times over and I'm looking for a new adventure. I just don't think this would suit us but I thought I would hear your thoughts considering our likes and dislikes, as stated. Should we or shouldn't we??? Thanks for your opinions.

Is there anyone else out there in the same boat? I really would like hearing from you if you've done the Disney cruise.

Yes.. !! I think you would still very much love the cruise even if you don't care for the heat or that you don't swim. There are so many other things too do besides that ! Seethe Shows, Bingo, Shopping, Eating, Movies, Dancing... the list goes on and on ! Im sure you would find your interests on board !

By all means, take a Disney cruise. We, too, are an older couple who don't enjoy swimming activities either, and this next cruise will be our 5th Disney one.

Just do what you want to do (there's a lot) or do nothing at all and just relax!

My best advice is to check out these two sites:

They have lots of great photos of the ship as well as Navigators from the recent cruises. Take a look at the Navigators and see if there are things you would enjoy. A Disney cruise is great if you:

* Like to eat - lots of great dining options from burgers by the pool to formal dining every night (and an adults only dining in Palo).

* Like to relax - either on your own veranda (like we do) or in the comfy chairs down on deck 4. Very relaxing with a good book.

* Like the movies - there is an onboard theatre that runs first run movies (mostly Disney)

* Like shows - there are a number of great shows that will be performed. Disney Dreams, Golden Mickey's, Hercules. Great!


Depending on the cruise you take you can also go to a wide variety of ports. Excursions are available to suit just about everyone from those who want to tour in an air conditioned bus to those who want to swim with the stingrays. A little research and I'm sure you'll find ones you like.

Hope this helps you make your choice. Cruising isn't for everyone but I know a lot of people who thought they wouldn't like it and love it!

Possibly if you could comment on what you DO enjoy doing on vacation it would be easier to determine if a cruise of any kind would be a wise investment.

Yes! The Disney cruise is wonderful! My parents and in-laws (in their 50's & 60's) went with us on our first Disney cruise and loved it. They will be going on our second cruise with us also. Even DH's grandmother loved it so much she's going with us again.

If you don't like the heat, obviously go sometime between November and March.
Take the three day and you won't be committing yourself to too much time or money if you don't like it, although I really doubt that would happen.
There are so many things to do on the ship besides the pools.
There are at least five Disney excursions on Nassau that don't involve swimming.
I don't think you'd be dissapointed.

I say go for it. You can also start out with a four day cruise too. We have only done the 7 day and love it. Like everyone has said, there are shows, bingo, tours, comedy/entertainment shows, relax on your verandah or on deck four. You will never know until you try it. Do you vacation with friends? Perhaps you might consider this too. Let us know if you go for it.

I would go on a cruise to Alaska, I know it is not Disney, but it might fit you better, and it certainly would be a new adventure.....

Don't forget about the spa. Also, on the 7 day cruises there are the "Art of Entertaining" series is fun.

Yes, we aren't really water people or sun people..but, we loved the 7 day western cruise.

There is so much to do..in fact..I never even went in the pool...lol.

honestly - I would do a cruise, but not a Disney/Caribbean cruise. How about New England or Canada out of NYC, or Alaska or sail to Europe?? If you don't like the heat or swim, a southern cruise may not be the one to do, unless you do it in January?
