Hey there,

Has anyone from the maritimes ever drove across the border to get cheaper flights and are they really that much cheaper?

We would normally fly out of YHZ but are wondering if we should make the drive to New Hampshire or Maine. Or what about any of the American carriers out of YHZ.

Thanks!

The best fares right now are southwest out of manchester nh at around 180 cdn taxes included or 215 cdn taxes in with ALLEGIANT AIR out of portsmouth nh ( Free Parking ) ( In May To Orlando )

Is the 10 hr + drive worth the 300$ pp saving ??

I may be doing this next febuary but i am in fredericton 4 hr closer

We flew out from Freddy Beach the first time because it was March Break but the next trip we flew from Bangor. Definitly worth looking into if your not on a tight schedule and can take the time to drive. Thinking Manchester NH or Portland ME the next trip!

We're not going until next March however Allegiant air's schedule is posted up until next December. As of December 2006 it would be 957 USD for 5 ppl return...that's compared to 3000+ CND from Canjet, Westjet and Air Canada.

I wish they would put out the schedules sooner!

My DH says a 9 hour drive is worth 1500-2000 savings...LOL

There are 5 of us, so definately worth the savings to drive to Manchester or even Boston (from Halifax) :thumbsup2 . Check out Southwest airlines, they seem to have $59.00 one way to Orlando.

Hey guys just in case you didn't know Allegiant Air does not fly into Orlando International Airport. They only have ME at Orlando International so just be sure to check into it.

I checked into Southwest from Manchester and 2 of us can fly down for less than $500. We flew Air Canada from Halifax in February and paid $511 EACH! IMO, it's worth it and I think we'll do it next time. Especially since they have flights out later in the day so we could spend the night with the in-laws in Saint John, leave in the morning from there and be in Manchester in about 8 hours.

Flying out of Halifax, Moncton, or here in Saint John would have cost us almost twice what it costs to drive 3 hrs and fly out of Bangor. We paid 805 Cdn for two round trip tickets out of BGR, it would have been over 1500 in Canada. We're driving to Bangor this sunday.

BTW, I'm pretty close to losing it all week I'm so excited! :cool1:
