Should we do MNSSHP or add an extra day to our tickets?

We currently have 5 day MYW tickets purchased through UT for our trip at the end of September. We were planning to do 2 days at MK (party days so early leave), 1 day at EP, HS and AK, and then MNSSHP one night. This is our 2nd trip and have never done MNSSHP, nor have we done EP, and we missed Fantasmic at HS last time because of rain.

I just realized about the adding a day to a ticket at the bridged pricing. So, we could add a day to our tickets (once we get there and use the tickets one day), and just pay $15 pp + tax for an extra day! But, that would mean giving up MNSSHP if we did that. I like the much cheaper $15 pp price, and we sure could probably use an extra day or 1/2 day at EP or even HS for our Star Wars fans, but we would have to miss MNSSHP, which sounds like a lot of fun! I don't know what to do! Any opinions?

It all depends on how old your children are. We did MNSSHP back in 2014 when my twins were 7 and we loved it but we are not doing it again this year. For me honestly it's the samething with just a little trick or treating and a great parade. Would I do it again maybe but for now I don't see the need. If your kids are young thn yes they will most likely enjoy it and for that happiness there is no price.

We were in this exact situation - 5 day MYW tickets from UT and the question of MNSSHP or an extra day. We went with the party (though much more expensive) because the grandparents are going with us and they've never been. Plus, it will be nice to relax that morning and arrive at MK at 4pm instead of RD like we do every other day. We did MNSSHP in 2014 and really liked it; we're excited to go again. Good luck making the decision - it was tough for me too.

I will pretty much always be in favor of MNSSHP; I timed our last trip specifically to be able to attend it last year. I disagree that it's only fun for real little kids, as I've only ever gone as an adult and absolutely love it. Beyond the parade and the shows, it's tons of fun seeing everyone (guests and characters) in costume, and the nights I've spent at the party always fly by. The lines for rides are always really short, too; we walked on Space Mountain twice in a row (and got ride photos in our costumes).

MNSSHP for sure. It's such a fun event. I highly recommend dressing up too. My DH was not so excited when I informed him we were dressing up the first year. I may have had to threaten him slightly :) By the end of the night, he admitted being dressed up made it more fun. PS. Your costumes don't have to be extravagant. We were Dalmatians. I just painted spots on white tshirts and shorts. I made ears out of felt, and I attached them to headbands. Done.

Why not both?

You were planning to spend the money on MNSSHP already. Does an extra $15 per person bust your budget? Or is the extra day an alternative to save money?

If you like Halloween and want to do the party it really is great and worth the money. If you don't really care about the special party activities though, then an extra day and a regular MK evening will suit too. I think the enjoyment will relate how much you like Halloween in your family to begin with. It's my favorite holiday so I am inclined to favor the MNSSHP.

We actually have gift cards to pay for MNSSHP, so it's not the money and could definitely do both, money wise. It's the amount of days we are there and if we did both, we would have to cut into one of our Saturday relax days at the beginning or end of the trip, and I don't think anyone would want to do that.

We will have my 6 year old DD and my 7 year old nephew with us, so I know they definitely want to do the party.

I'm just stressing over how on earth we are going to do everything at EP (Soarin, TT, FEA, Joy/Sadness, Baymax, etc). 2 days there would be ideal.

We were all planning on dressing up too-even my DH who is not so gung ho about doing it. But, I think he would be happy he did. I am afraid I would regret not doing the MNSSHP. This might be the only chance we have to do it! Decisions, decisions. This trip has been so, so hard to plan!! Last year in June, our first trip, was so, so easy!

My DD and I love Halloween, my DH has never been a fan. My DD really wants to meet the 7 Dwarfs, so I just feel like I am going to spend all that money just to wait forever in line to see them, and not get to do much else. We'd love to see Jack and Sally too, but I know both probably won't be possible. Not to mention all the other special characters. Plus, we'd love to ride rides with short lines and want to hit the stage shows, parade and Hallowishes. But, it seems there just isn't enough time to do it all. lol Even planning on getting there at 4pm and lining up early for 7 Dwarfs.

But for just $15, you could either do an evening or just a morning on one of those Saturdays and get some of those EP things done. Personally, I would choose an evening and just hang out in EP World Showcase. Eat around the world, do the Frozen stuff, play Agent P, and watch Illuminations. If you purposely make it a relaxing evening, maybe they won't mind giving up a portion of that relax day.

Good point!! Although F&W will be going on at EP at that time, so Sat night will be packed, according to what I have read. So, that might not be too relaxing.

Sounds like you want to do it. If you plan it right you can get a lot done. Line up for the 7D of Jack and Sally early, and try to check them off right away. The do the show a few times, and there are two parades. If you can make the whole night of it, you'll do just fine.

Last year the evening we went to EP during F&W was the best night to do all the rides/characters. World Showcase was packed, but everything else was practically walk on. Add the extra day, go in the evening and do all your "must dos" during this time.

Oh my gosh! Okay, I didn't think of this! This might be it! We could get an extra day of tickets and just go to EP in the evening to do the rides and characters we need to do, because we will already be doing World Showcase and F&W during the week when we are there. Then, we could still do MNSSHP as planned too! Thank you!!!

FPs for that evening should be easy to come by at your 60 day mark, since the morning and afternoon ones are first priority for people.

We have done MNSSHP our last 3 (soon to be 4) trips. We actually go in Sept. for 3 reasons..
1. Our anniversary (I was gonna put the Food & Wine Festival here but my wife may read this post) :rolleyes1
2. Food and Wine Festival. (We do this on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday relatively early to beat the crowds)
3. MNSSHP.

This year (again in Sept.) we are taking my 9 y/o niece and 4 y/o nephew. It is their first trip to WDW so it should be entertaining. My niece is picking our costumes..

I vote add another day. Not only do you get more bang for your buck vis-a-vis time, but it really takes a lot of stress off you to have two days instead of one, for instance, at MK. I find when I can take a more leisurely pace through the parks I enjoy everything more.

Thanks everyone for your input! These boards are great and getting other people's ideas/opinions really help!! I think we are going to do both-I think we can make it work in our schedule, and still have plenty of relaxation time! Thanks!!
