Should the signature restaurants serve breakfast/brunch?

I agree that Disney probably won't do it because the non-character breakfast restaurants are not usually fun, but I would love a signature brunch experience. We like breakfast food but generally not early in the morning so we tend to do an early lunch and a later dinner when at Disney. If brunch were an option, we would definitely consider it especially if it was something "out of the norm" such as an African inspired breakfast at Jiko or something like that.

Personally, I don't like the idea at all. I would not partake of a high end buffet while in WDW. That is something I can do any weekend at home. I am not spending my Disney time in the middle of the day at brunch.
Brunches don't have to be a buffet - the Narcoossee's Tables in Wonderland brunch was a prix fixe menu (and the entree selection was à la carte).

I guess I'm disappointed because I think the food could truly be great (as the Narcoossee's meal showed), but the demand doesn't seem to be there and the logistics don't really work out.

The trend for breakfasts at WDW isn't a positive one - I feel like some of the better-quality options (The Wave, Captain's Grille, etc) aren't very popular, so I guess it's no surprise that there isn't any sort of signature brunch (even on weekends).

I agree, the good breakfasts aren't popular. They also cut down a great deal on the breakfast options inside the parks; apparently if guests aren't doing a character breakfast they tend to eat a CS breakfast at the resort before going to the park.

Which also doesn't explain the almost total lack of CS breakfast options at the Epcot resorts, although they have more TS breakfast options than pretty much anywhwere (Kouzzina, Captain's Grill, Cape May if you want characters). Breakfast is apparently not a major meal at WDW unless there are characters involved.

But would you leave a park to do this brunch, since I guess they would be at resorts and not parks?

While there are a lot of foodies out there I just don't see many people leaving a park just for food. I know they do it, but not enough to justify a special meal.

They don't even serve lunch at the most popular resort meals like Chef Mickey's, Ohana's, Cape May and 1900 park fare.

We would sleep late that day, then go to the parks after brunch. That said, we've been so many times that our trips are all about the parks.

The Papeete Bay Verandah (now Ohana) used to have a fabulous Sunday brunch buffet. I was just a child at the time, but I remember it, and I'd totally go to something like that again now!

I would love see a Sunday brunch option at one of the resorts. This is something I could definitely see my family doing. There are days that we don't get up super early or days that we just try to relax a bit and skip the parks, this would be a prefect fit for those types of days.

I could see us doing either one, leaving a Park or starting the day later one day during a trip. Certainly not every day. We generally go for 10 days so taking time away from the Parks isn't a huge issue for us. We have plenty of time! That said, I do agree that there wouldn't be enough of a demand.

I would love a Sunday brunch option...we visit WDW often and our visits are not park-centric.

. . . Many years ago, Top of the World at the Contemporary offered Sunday brunch. So did the Lake Buena Vista Club . . .

1) Disney is in the profit business.
2) If "brunch" made good profit, they would do it.
3) The above were stopped.
4) I doubt they would stop if they were big profit makers.
. . . sure, a few people here would like an upscale brunch,
. . . but the vast majority of folks don't
. . . if they want lots of food, they do a buffet for breakfast or late breakfast
. . . since the buffets have more than just breakfast food

As a continuation of my Brunch is something done after church thought.

I wonder if it was when they still had church services at the Contemporary.

I think the bigger question is whether there is enough demand for it and I suspect that's the real reason it doesn't happen. It is pretty easy to get into just about every non-character table service breakfast on property, even at the last minute, so there's no incentive for Disney to add more breakfast choices. Dinner is just a more likely time for people to plan a nicer/more leisurely meal. In the mornings they're more interested in getting to the parks, especially through the 8+ months out of the year that mornings are the most pleasant time of day temperature wise.
