Should some attractions have a MAXIMUM age

I agree there should be no age limits. For one thing, toddlers and infants can't go on any of those Fantasyland ride without adults. So it would have to be something like kids between the ages of 3 and 10.

We took our kids to a local amusement park that had an area where only kids under 50 inches could ride on the kiddie rides in the "Camp Snoopy" section. This is an amusement park with tons of height restricted thrill rides, unlike Disney, so it kind of makes sense.

We had the problem that our 2 year old couldn't go on many of the rides with his older brother since we couldn't go with him. What I really missed though was the joy of experiencing the ride WITH my child. It's just not the same to sit on the sidelines and watch.

I think Disney should hand out some snack-sized cheese nuggets while these impatient people are waiting. That way they'd have something to go with their whine. ;)

LOL! :rotfl:

another vote for no age limit.

Did the OP really have the kiddies in mind when he made his post? I think not. He could have easily asked for a kiddieland. The proposal of a kiddieland would not have been nearly so incendiary. I have never seen any adult/teen that had a desire to ride those attractions, but the under 5 crowd loves 'em! I've never seen a wait for kiddie attractions. The OP could have asked for attractions to be made that would specifically target children, instead he tried to guilt adults into not riding attractions that were clearly designed for ALL ages. Do you know how to create a ride that kids will want to ride but adults do not? You small-size the seats and the ride system. Clearly the rides that the OP wants to limit were designed for a wide range of body types.

Furthermore, if the OP really feels strongly that Disney is treating children unfairly, he only has to remember that Disney is a FOR PROFIT organization. Vote with your feet and your wallet. Don't go there. I am not being cavalier. I am being serious. If you aren't getting your money's worth, don't go. Disney, I am told, is very keen on market dynamics. If Disney perceives it is losing a significant market share of families with small kids, I guarantee you it will do something to correct the situation. I bet the imagineers could come up with something more palatable then age limits on classic rides!

I'm with everyone else, I totally disagree with maximum age limits.
On our last trip (my kids were 5 and 2), we didn't get to ride alot of rides because we were only in the parks for 3 1/2 days and we underestimated what the crowds would be, so waits were longer than we had planned. Peter Pan was broken down while we were in Fantasyland and we didn't have the chance to get back to it. We didn't see anything in Adventureland or Frontierland except for the Country Bear Jamboree. Were my kids disappointed? NO! They couldn't have cared less because they were too busy enjoying what they did experience.
If your kids really want to go on Dumbo and the wait is an hour, then wait! So you miss a couple other rides, big deal! We did this for the IndySpeedway. After 40 minutes DH and I looked at each other and shook our heads. We couldn't believe we were waiting in line for so long for such a cheesy ride (we ended up waiting an hour). But, the kids had a blast! My DS2 was in heaven because he got to "drive" the car all by himself. I never once wished while waiting in line that the adults with no kids would get out of line or thought that it wasn't "fair" to my kids that adults were riding alone.
This is the problem with the OP's "mythical family". They're obviously more worried about "seeing everything" (which in 3-4 days is impossible) than enjoying the experience. We didn't see alot of the things I wanted to on our last trip (mostly due to poor planning on our part) and I was disappointed after the first day, but my kids were not. When I realized what a great time they were having, I got over it and just enjoyed the rest of our trip. Although that hasn't stopped me from planning better for the next one! LOL!!

I just wanted to say GOOD GOING DISSERS!

When I first read this thread a few days ago I really couldn't believe it. Was I being told I was rude and selfish by going to Disney and riding all the rides I wanted... Dumbo included?

The OP did a credible job of painting a picture of small children, tears streaming down their faces because mean adults were keeping them from their one and only chance of riding their ride of their dreams. The problem is it didn't stand up to logic.

Good going fellow dissers! I doubt if we changed the OP's mind. It would be interesting to hear if we had, or if we had just set his/her mind ever more firmly.

I could see the new ads.......... Bring all the people you love for a magical gathering at WDW

Disclaimer: Gathering of family without children or all adult parties will not be possible in some areas of the parks.

When my DGM was 82 years young we ask her where she would like to go on vacation. Her reply was "you know I always wanted to go to Disneyland, but gramps always said that was just for kids" So my dad mom and I took my DGM to WDW.

To watch the years melt away, when she saw the castle, got a kiss from Mickey, flew with Peter Pan, and sang along with IASW (rode 3 times for her), was the most treasured trip I have been on.

So even when I took my children their first times I stood in those lines and remembered how young my 82 yr old GM was when she was at WDW.

I think that preteens and younger should stay off of Tower of Terror because it's my favorite ride and I don't want to wait in long lines. ;) Guess that won't work, though, since my 4yo goes in it.

I doubt it too. After 5 or 6 pages (don't remember exactly) of people saying the idea was ridiculous, with not one person agreeing, the OP was still trying to argue his/her point! Why would 8 pages do it?
