Should OKW 2042 dues be different to OKW 2057

Did you sign the quitclaim back in 2008 or so? If you did, they will take it back in 2042 as agreed.

If you refused to sign the quitclaim back in 2008, then Disney still has to decide whether their extension via special assessment was legally justified (in which case they will use legal means to deny your ownership interest by 2042, and probably before they begin to subsidize dues for 2042 owners) or else they will concede that they overstepped and allow the non-signers to keep OKW ownership through 2057.

But they pushed pretty hard during 2008 and such to get people to sign away their rights to the extension or else pay for it. I doubt there are that many owners who were that motivated to push back.

I did NOT sign in 2008 or anytime. It will be interesting to see what they do. OTOH, I hope I am alive to see it!

The buyer would be required to sign a quit claim for the transfer to happen if I understand correctly.

AND what would happen IF I decided to sell my non quit claimed contracts???

You can not sell it without signing the quit claim. That is why all resale contracts turn back to DVD in 2042.

I brought this issue up to them years ago and took it up with Orange County but got no where. It wasn't worth my time or money to bring legal action.

They did include language allowing them to place a lien on owners' contracts to restrict use until the quitclaim was signed or the extension price was paid. But reports from owners who pushed back suggested that Disney backed off and has never attempted to enforce their claim to date.

Some old old discussion on this can be found here if you are really bored ( ;) ):

Yeah, I haven't been that worried about it but as we hit the 20 year mark, it does seem like it's getting close. I was figuring by the 15 year mark at least, but these current execs can't manage a point chart so their competence is definitely in question.

I saw on LinkedIn that John McGowan is still around but I guess he is ghosting you at this point? :)

* all non extended resale, some resale are extended, if the original owner bought the ext OR it has been bought since the extension direct and is being sold used.

Correct. I was just letting this specific owner know who is an original owner that they can’t sell it without the quitclaim.
