Should I visit Labor Day Weekend or immediately afterwards?

I've completed a search that included "Labor" and the ones for "September" and got all kinds of responses from birth pains to the entire month of September.

I was just wondering if we should plan on going down the Saturday that precedes labor Day (September 3) or would it be better to wait until the Labor Day holiday? We've gone the Friday after Labor Day and enjoyed low crowds---well, less crowded than normal anyway. But I did not know if the lower crowds actually would include the labor Day weekend.

IMO the really low crowds start the Tuesday after Labor Day

I went the week after Labor Day in 2013. It's a great time to visit with low crowds.

Public schools in my town (in Mass.) don't start school until the 1st Wed. of September each year - which happens to be after Labor Day this year.

I kinda expected it would be better to wait, but thought I would get confirmation from those who may have been there Labor Day and the days following to see how they compared.

Looks like the main concern will be whether or not to go on Saturday or Sunday following. If we go on Saturday, we will miss the first home game for Alabama, (and yes, college football is a fairly big thing around here) so that would mean going on Sunday and coming back on Saturday. But then this would be 1 day shorter than we normally stay, or come back on Sunday and then have to head back to the office the very next day.
