Should I try online check in? Pros and Cons

Leaving for Kidani soon. Can't wait. I have never done online check in for a DVC stay. Do you recommend it?

Can't hurt, but it doesn't help much either. FYI - If you give them a CC during online check in, it will be used for your charging privileges on your KTTW card.

Done it six times now, and no trouble any of those times. And we've even gotten our requests as well.

I used online check-in for last weeks stay. It was terrific. No waiting in line and my Welcome Home packet was ready at arrival.

I've used online check-in three times so far. It works well for me. If you have a group on a dining plan, and want to pay individually at check-in, I would not do online check-in.

Don't do online check-in if you want to use a rewards card or gift card for the diining plan. They will automatically charge it to the credit card # you give.

I've never had a long wait at check-in at a DVC resort, so I have not done online check-in. I'd rather talk to someone to make sure all is in order.

It was wonderful! They were actually standing at the door waiting for us when we got off ME to give us our keys and welcome packet!

Just did online check-in for the first time. We arrived at the resort at 9 AM, our room was ready...they had fulfilled our requests and the whole process took 3 minutes...plus a "Welcome Home" and balloon swords for the boys! I will never check in the other way again!

If so I was going to do that and then online check in from the road the night before so they know when we will arrive.

Requests should be put on reservation. Though there is a section for putting in requests on the on-line check-in, that section does not work yet. Also, one may get the impression from responses above that doing on-line check-in helps in getting requests. It does not.

Rooms are assigned anywhere from the night before or a couple of days before your check in date. The online request website is a Disney Resorts product that the DVC is using. It has limited functionality because it wasn't designed for the DVC.

How does online check-in work if your arrival time is prior to normal check-in time [4:00 PM]? When checking in early with the CM they provide all details except your actual room number.

It makes no difference whether you check-in earlier or later. If earlier, you get everything including room keys but room and room number may not become available until 4

It works the same way, your room may not be ready. But you are asked to enter an approximate arrival time, so they may try to have a room ready for you. The 3 times I've used online check-in, our room has been ready when we arrived...but we never arrived on the busier check-in/check-out days.

I've used it 4 times so far. 3 times it worked great, 1 time they could not find anything so I had to do a conventional check in.

We did on-line checkin for our last 2 DVC stays and it worked out great. They had our packet waiting for us when we checked in.

So if I add the Visa debit card to our online checkin, when will it charge it for the DDP? (gotta shift some money around first!) I am assuming it will take these, right?

Can you specify charging priviledges on the online check in? Our DD is 10, so they would probably add it to her card, but that is NOT something we want!

Last time I did online check in there was no place to specify. But when I arrived they said something to the effect of "I assume you do not want charging privileges put on your children's key cards".
