Should I continue to pursue this job opportunity?

For the first time in a year or sending out resumes, I got a call back. :cool1: Bad news is, the job is really too far away from me. :( Regardless, I talked to the headhunter for 40 minutes today, explaining how my background matches the job description. Since what I said and what was on my resume didn't exactly match (my resume was really geared toward a different job), she now wants me to write an essay about my experience, so she can share with the hiring company.

Should I do it? On one hand, I know the job will be too far away (unless I can figure out how to turn an 1hr 15min commute into 45 minutes). On the other hand, it's a good job and I'm thinking that it'd be a nice confidence boost to actually get an interview, and good practice to actually conduct and interview or two.

What do you think? Should I not waste the company or my time?

If I remember correctly, you have been through a lot in the last year  I think you should try for it. If it turns out that you would love the job, they want to hire you, etc., maybe you could think about taking it...even if you might have to move closer to the job....a fresh start may be nice...good luck!!!!! :wizard:

You won't know for sure if it is a 'waste of time' until you do it. If you don't do you will always second guess yourself.

It doesn't cost a thing to interview.

Congrats for getting the call back! I know how hard it is as I sent hundreds of applications out last year and had only 2 call backs! So far this year nothing! Is the money worth the commute? I too won't apply for anything more than an hour away, but if I saw something I really liked it may be worth it. I recently applied for something that would be the same commute you are contemplating. The job sounded awesome, but I have no idea what the salary is. Still haven't heard back, but if I do, if the salary is worth it, then I'd probably take it even though I'd hate the commute. Good luck!

It never hurts to interview. Even if you get the job, you don't need to take it. Do it as practice, if nothing else.
