Should I Buy???

chalee94, thank you for the quick response.:thumbsup2 We did have a chance to see OKW on our last trip, and it is beautiful there. But the closeness of the BLT is so appealing to us.:goodvibes

yep - you just have to decide if you like BLT enough to spend $115-120 per pt or more on it as opposed to $65-ish per pt for SSR or OKW...

For us DVC was a financial decision. We like to stay in nice hotels when we travel and hotel rooms at Disney are not cheap at all. When we did the math we researched pricing for rooms on the web and calculated the cost over time. We found that after a certain amount of trips, DVC made a lot of financial sense. This is especially true in regards to inflation. If room rates ever rise over the course of our lives (and I'm sure they will), we have essentially locked in our vacation pricing for life.

A final thought on DVC that is sometimes overlooked is the trading power that you have through RCI. My wife and I are traveling to Maui this year for 7 nights on our DVC points. We simply called Member services and they were able to instantly book us a room without having to be on a waiting list or anything like that. We are staying in a wonderful resort that would have cost us thousands had we not had DVC.

Hi.:goodvibes cseca - I said yes to 1-5 and would love to buy into a DVC. You mentioned some good deals and good properties. Could you give an example of which property you would look at? Thanks so much.:goodvibes

Like chalee said, OKW and SSR are good values. In a sense that they have longer contract (read the fine print on OKW, only some have contract extension) and reasonable MF.
Don't get caught up on just the purchase price, because that's a one time deal but MF (Maint Fee) increases every year.

Keep in mind that DVC/DVD has been making many changes in the past couple of years. Your contract basically only promises you a stay in your home resort. Everything else consider them perks. Perks could be taken out at any time. So don't let any sales person fools you into thinking otherwise.

That's why I'm a huge proponent of buy where you want to stay. If you are happy to stay at OKW/SSR then they might just be the perfect resort for you. But if you buy OKW/SSR to with the plan get into BLT on every trip, you might get disappointed later.

Read the contracts that are available out there carefully. Some of them are stripped, meaning you won't get any points until next year or so.

Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their great information. :goodvibes You have given me alot of info that I have never heard of or ever thought of. It does get confusing and overwhelming reading all of the listings on The Timeshare Store. Thanks! :thumbsup2

They don't work out no matter how much you work them. The maintenance is the killer. U need to pay that nut each year which could be as much as an entire vacation.

It's an emotional decision. We absolutely love it and we are really new members. We own 200 SSR and just added 200 BCV.

Wait until the rules change and u can probably pick up something really cheap. The rooms are amazing. We stayed at the tree house villas at SSR with family and had a blast.

Forget the numbers and have fun!

You do get a discount on annual passes and some of the shops at the park.
