According to
DCL website for 4 night cruises....

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Guest
Infant Pricing (Children under 3)*** $99
Children's Pricing (3-12) $329 - $899
All Other $379 - $899
It looks like the kids over age 12 are only $50.00 more and when you get to the higher categories it looks like they must be the same because they both show the rate at $899 pp.
Carnival charges the same no matter what age the 3rd, 4th or 5th person is which doing a 4 day sailing on the Fascination on March 7, 2005 it would be $359.00 for you and your wife and $299.00 for each one of your children in an inside stateroom. Total of $1300 plus port charges according to the Carnival Website.
The Disney pricing is really probably only about $50.00 less per child under 12 than it is for kids older than 12.
I so hear about the kids older than 10 paying full fare at WDW...that ticks me off so badly! My 9 year old can go on everything my 10 year old can and yet he is cheaper...why they charge an adult fare at the magical age of 10 is beyond me!
If it were me taking an 18 year old, unless they are addicted to Disneyworld and the Disney experience I think Carnival would be a lot of fun for them *
putting on the flame retardent suit * but we've done them all. When I was 18 no way would I have preferred to go on Disney over Carnival (but then it wasn't around then either and I was the youngest in the family) but for me at 18 it was fun because I could gamble with my family legally and I wasn't really into the whole Disney experience! I would think it's a matter of preference but I can see how you might be a little peeved at the Disney fare scale!
