Should I be upset w/ DCL????

Yes, Prymsu, Carnival does charge same fare for third/fourth passengers no matter the age. Disney is unique in that they DISCOUNT children, unlike other cruises...
I think the original poster should consider the two cabin option. I think that the entire family will enjoy it more this way...
JMHO.

This is true of Royal Caribbean and Celebrity as well. 1st and 2nd are one price, 3rd and 4th lower. Age does not matter in the price.

We always travel with our two kids (ages 16 and 13) and we pay the 3rd/4th passenger rate to have them stay in the same cabin with us. Age doesn't matter, if there were 4 adults, the first two would pay the adult rate, the next two would pay the 3rd/4th passenger rate.

According to DCL website for 4 night cruises....

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/d...egroupingindex?id=FourNightBahamasRatesGrping

Third, Fourth, and Fifth Guest
Infant Pricing (Children under 3)*** $99
Children's Pricing (3-12) $329 - $899
All Other $379 - $899

It looks like the kids over age 12 are only $50.00 more and when you get to the higher categories it looks like they must be the same because they both show the rate at $899 pp.

Carnival charges the same no matter what age the 3rd, 4th or 5th person is which doing a 4 day sailing on the Fascination on March 7, 2005 it would be $359.00 for you and your wife and $299.00 for each one of your children in an inside stateroom. Total of $1300 plus port charges according to the Carnival Website.

The Disney pricing is really probably only about $50.00 less per child under 12 than it is for kids older than 12.

I so hear about the kids older than 10 paying full fare at WDW...that ticks me off so badly! My 9 year old can go on everything my 10 year old can and yet he is cheaper...why they charge an adult fare at the magical age of 10 is beyond me!

If it were me taking an 18 year old, unless they are addicted to Disneyworld and the Disney experience I think Carnival would be a lot of fun for them *putting on the flame retardent suit * but we've done them all. When I was 18 no way would I have preferred to go on Disney over Carnival (but then it wasn't around then either and I was the youngest in the family) but for me at 18 it was fun because I could gamble with my family legally and I wasn't really into the whole Disney experience! I would think it's a matter of preference but I can see how you might be a little peeved at the Disney fare scale!

Don't go giving the wrong idea Heidi, the casinos onboard Carnival are still 21. Some of the ports might be 18, depends on port of call.

And I have to agree that DCL can't be charging your DS18 full adult fare, especially if he's booked as a 3rd/4/th/5th. Definitely check that one out again.

Hope it works out for you.

Oh yeah, no pixie dust in your wheaties this morning crisi?

Mike

According to Carnival's website you need to be 18 to gamble
to play slots and tables.

Casino:
Guest must be 18 years of age or older to play the tables and the slot machines. Guests under 18 years of age are not permitted in the casino.

So actually I didnt give out bum information...at least not according to Carnival's website.:teeth:

But paying full fare for a "non-legal adult" stinks no matter what! And paying full fare for my 10 year old at the parks stinks even worse! LOL

LOL Mike!:rotfl:

Finally for once today I was correct about something! I argued with the cop who pulled me over that NO WAY was I doing 40 in a 30..but alas I lost! It's nice to be correct at SOMETHING today!

After just returning from a Carnival Cruise my husband and I shared a cabin with my 19 MONTH old....we had to pay full fare
for her....the 3 rd person rate was just as high as ours...We were also with our 2 other children and had to pay full adult rates for them as well since we had 2 rooms....Carnival offers no incentives what so ever for a child....no discounts....I believe Disney and
Holland America are the only ones that will give discounts for
children.

I know this sounds unsympathetic, but as a single parent, I have almost always had to pay full price for my child, no matter what trip we took or how young he was (including our recent cruise where he was 9).

18 is an adult any way you slice it...If you can get the third + person discount, that's great though.

Hi, I would consider Royal Caribbean's newest ship sailing from Port Canaveral. Its called the Mariner Of The Seas and would be a great option for you. Especially If you kid's are getting older, its an amazing ship and It would cost less than the DCL rates due to the demand for those two ships alone.

The price difference could amaze you.

You could also lookin into the Carnival Glory sailing from Port Canaveral also. They are the 'Fun Ship's".

Another option.. Carnival Miracle sailing from Tampa beginning Oct 2004. Great Rates and intinerary.

One more adults not bad, we are a family of 6, parents and 4 children under 12. We HAVE to have 2 rooms (above 5 people is the break point) and we have to pay for 2 adults in BOTH rooms So I am paying for 4 adults, when we truly only have 2

WOW!!!
Having a bad day???
Wow..... CRISI... You stated the following " Might as well be upset at your boss for not paying you enough to afford it, or yourselves for having three children to start with."

I take your statement very personal..........

NO!!! I thank GOD for my three kids.....

I'm wondering if your kids thank god they have you as a parent?

Loosen up!!!

Notice...I was just asking a question....Notice I said " Don't flame me!!"
NOTICE..How nice everyone else was about the answer!!!

Hey, maybe you should ask your boss for a raise...maybe that will make you lighten up?
