Should AHnold appologize?

was it funny? possibly.

was it inappropriate? yes.

should the California legislaotrs be offended? yes, but they should let it go.

eeyore's right -- what's funny from an actor in a tv skit isn't necessairly funny from the governor of the state.

Are you kidding me? Apologize? What a joke. To apologize for this would just make you another insincere politician.

We are just way too oversensitive in this country if that offends you. Calling them girlie-men is not sexist, it should not be taken literally. Jeez people grow some thicker skin, I think it's ridiculous that this is even debated.

"We just want to pump (insert clap) you up!"

It made me lol. Totally not PC.

You are right! It was funny, made me laugh, and might not be PC but that's what I like about Arnold!

I'm guessing that the next gubernatorial election in CA is going to the Democrats.

Isn't it interesting to see the kind of actions the republicans have been putting forth of late: Cheney, Ryan, Arnold, Rowland...

Hmmmm...

Mal here entering her thought of the day (and utilizing a word I learned right here on the Dis!):

Hookaires?

Also, just as an aside, I'm not sure that I think making fun of someone's accent by calling him AHnold is any better than him calling anyone a "girlie man". I'm not bothered by it, but it's in just the same taste, IMO.

Because of this incident? I doubt it, the electorate has a short memory in regards to ths kind of thing. But, a few months ago, people started getting refunds from their car registrations and they DO remember that kind of thing. Arnold is a very popular govenor so far. I could be wrong, I think he'll get another term.

What's interesting? Both parties are full of men from the good ole' boys club. Just because the Democrats talk a good game doesn't mean they are any less mysogonistic than the Republicans. They are merely better at hiding it.

Vote Libertarian!! :D

That is a really good point, I had not thought of that aspect. Can you imagine if everyone (including the major media outlets) made fun of a Mexican politician's accent? The righteous outrage would be deafening.

The thing that I find interesting about this is how the liberals are all wound up about this. If Kerry or Edwards had said something like this (and they say plenty of stupid things every day...) they'd think it was hysterically funny and be ROTFLTBO! It's intriguing how INTOLERANT (a word they love to blame everyone else for) they become when the shoe is on the other foot.

That having been said, I would like to encourage all liberals to continue in their psychotic ways. It's very entertaining and will help to weaken their image and position on whatever issue, more and more.

Wow Beast, that was harsh!:earseek:

I can't imagine a liberal saying that. I guess most women like to be controlled by those macho, quasi-fascist types.....

carry on......;)

I would not have thought it was funny except for the fact that he was quoting a SNL skit that poked fun at him. I thought it showed a good sense of humor - he was laughing at himself too. If I were him I would apologize for offending and publically explain the reference to the SNL skit, but stand by original attempt at humor.

I think that if they are willing to step forward and identify themselves as girlie men, then Arnold should apologize to them. ;)

jmho.. but Arnold was speaking "off the cuff"..... I think
the "girlie man" comment was truly an ARNOLD MOMENT.. instead of rhetoric that is usually scripted for him. Sometimes I think the TRUE ARNOLD spontaneously erupts....now whether that is a good thing or a bad thing..... each voter will get to choose next time around...

btw... for those of you NOT living here, would you have voted for ARNOLD for your state governor?

I did not do so....but have to admit he has surprized me..

See, this is exactly what I was talking about. Do you honestly believe that the Democratic leadership is any better than the Republican leadership? Pffft. You think that Clinton, for example, respects women? You think Kerry and Edwards don;t share homophobic jokes in private? Well, if you believe that, I've got a bridge in San Francisco to sell you, real cheap. ;)

I don't care what his party affiliation is, I thought is was a cute joke and he should apologize only if he wants to leave the impression that hysterical rantings about political correctness have any affect on his politics.

fik, you are right about "ahnold". i didn't think about it. :o

btw... for those of you NOT living here, would you have voted for ARNOLD for your state governor?

nope, but he hasn't done as bad as i thought he would.

well, I voted for him because the choice was to leave Davis in office or choose Bustamante. Neither was appealing to me. Besides, the Democrats had a lock on Sacramento so I thought it would only be "fair" :D

I don't know if I'll vote for him again, depends on who else is running and what the most important issues to me are at the time.

You call yourself a libertarian you sound like a Republican to me. I was responding to The Beast's post.

I just don't think that Ahnold is all that hot. Too macho for my tastes. I certainly wouldn't fall at his feet and worship him!

Ask Sylvia Plath, I didn't start it...;)

How do I sound like a Republican? How does a Republican sound? I think both parties stink. Is that better? :)

How did he get that job, anyway? Is he even educated. I couldn't tell by the way that he speaks.

What do you think of what Beast said?:D
