Should AHnold appologize?

Sorry, I am too lazy to look for a link, but apparently out of frustration with the California Democratic legislature, called them " GIRLIE MEN". At this point he won't apologize. Should he apologize or should they just "get over it" and quit whining? I think they need to quit whining and get to work, but that's me.

Well I busted a gut laughing this morning because this was AOL's headline news:

I think he should come stand by the line where us girlie-girls are, but that's just because I have a *thing* for Arnold.

I heard that Arnold likes to conduct state business while smoking cigars and offering his guests cigars. Because smoking of any kind in prohibited in state buildings, Arnold erected a luxuriously furnished tent on the lawn and that is where he conducts business and smokes cigars. Perhaps the "girlie men" need to find their way to the tent.

If I were a women in the Calif. Legislature, I'd sure want an apology. The phrase assumes that an effective legislator is not only a manly man, but a man period. No one finds that's insulting?

After all the uproar over name-calling on these boards lately, I find it interesting that we would be willing to accept the same tactics from our politicians. Just one "girl's" opinion, however.

that is precisely why i think he should apologize. just one more strike against ahnold for women, imho.

Arnold's Girlie Man Comment He should apologize. This was a crude, rude reference about people he claims he wants to work with to solve the problems in CA. Insulting them is going to make them want to work more closely and listen more carefully to Arnold's ideas and plans?

exactly. the name calling and derogatory remarks take away from the real message. very unprofessional. kind of like ussing expletives on the floor of the Senate. so what may be approrpiate criticism of the California legislature is lost in the sturm und drang caused by Ahnold's behavior.

you know, in NY, the legislature failed to enact a budget by the statutory deadline of April 1. in fact, they went home for summer recess without completing that task. the legislative leaders point the finger at the governor and the governor points the finger at the legislature. but no one's calling each other silly or nasty names.

as much as i dislike pataki, he's no governator (and that's a good thing).

I agree. It was funny. I would guess that Ahnold doesn't have an insecure bone in his body. The whiners might be a bit too thin skinned for politics.

ITA, caitycaity. When an actor on SNL uses the term in a skit, it is funny. When an elected official uses the term in a derogatory manner toward another elected official or group of elected officials, it is completely inappropriate. The fact that Arnold cannot understand this and refuse to apologize simply shows his lack of understanding about civility and manners.

People really need to check their sensitivity levels, IMO. I don't know why some people try to make other people responsible for how they feel. It was a JOKE, no, he should not apologize. Maybe the CA legislature could do with a little laughing at themselves. They do take themselves far too seriously.

Why do people feel like they have a right not to be offended? If they don't like Arnold's comments, they can tell him so at the next election, in the voting booth. Otherwise, quit whining.
