hello this will be our first Disney cruise, outside of the adult restaurants are shorts acceptable at dinner?

Also where can I find out more information about the photo package that people are talking about?

Shorts are ok at dinner.

Q:
What should I wear to dinner?

A:
The dress code for dinner varies by the venue or theme night of your cruise. In general, most meals are "cruise casual"—no swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with optional opportunities to get dressed up for a special family photo. Here's a breakdown of events by cruise itinerary:

On 3-night cruises:
•One cruise casual night—No swimwear or tank tops
•One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
•One "optional dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

On 4-night cruises:
•First night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
•One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
•One optional dress-up night—jacket for men, and dress or pantsuit for women
•Final night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops

On 7-night cruises:
•First night is cruise casual—no swimwear or tank tops
•One themed night (pirate, tropical or other themed deck party)
•3 additional cruise casual nights—no swimwear or tank tops
•One formal and one semi-formal night—two great opportunities to dress-up and take advantage of the onboard photography services. Though optional, we recommend: Dress pants with a jacket or a suit for men, and dress or pantsuit for women

Dress code at Palo:
•Men: Dress pants and dress shirt (a jacket is optional)
•Women: Dress or pantsuit
•No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Dress code at Remy:
•Men: Dress pants with jacket (sports or suit jacket) is required—ties are optional.
•Women: A dress, cocktail dress, pantsuit or skirt/blouse is required
•No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

Photo packages are on display in shutters the photography service on board. Or on the website my cruise photos.

I have been wondering the same thing. This is our first disney cruise and I had read that you could wear shorts, which my husband will be excited about; however, do many people where shorts on the casual nights? I don't want us to feel out of place if we wear shorts.

I've seen the whole range.

This will be the first year I let my son (16) to wear shorts. Nicer shorts - and not on the semi formal and formal nights. I would rather him be comfortable and neat than grouchy and dressy!

My husband will wear chinos and a polo shirt except for the 2 fancier nights. I'll most likely be in a summer dress or loose summery pants. The first night has been a bit hit or miss depending on when we get our luggage and how organized we are about unpacking. It's our most disheveled evening.

If you and your family want to be casual or dressy it doesn't matter!

Thanks so much for the reply - I appreciate the quick response and help figuring out what to do!

On the WBPC in May on cruise casual nights I wore nice shorts with a nice top and sparkly sandals. Shorts but nice. My guys wore khaki shorts with polos. It was casual but still nice.

Isn't that the best?!?! We enjoy the chance to dress up a bit for all dinners in the MDR, mostly because we have few reasons to dress up on a regular basis so it's fun to us and we get pictures that we wouldn't have chances to take at home! But I love the fact that guests can be casual in the dining rooms too if they prefer. Either way, no one is out of place and you'll see a wide variety of dress every night. :)

Shorts are absolutely acceptable and you'll see plenty of people wearing them.

The dining rooms are elegant, the food is not gourmet (too many people who won't eat new foods) but pretty nice, the table settings are formal, and the waiters outfits are pretty classy. You will feel very good if you dress appropriately for an upscale restaurant. The is no chance you'll feel like you overdressed.

If you're comfortable in shorts at such a restaurant, join many others who also are and have a great meal. If you are comfortable in dressing nicely for an upscale dinner at sea, join many others who also are and have a great meal.

You just never know. On my last cruise I did not pack a sportcoat. To the formal dinner I wore khakis, dockers and a dress shirt with tie. I was worried I would look too casual. Got to the table and the 2 other guys seated with us were wearing polo shirts. I was the one overdressed at that table!

Again. You never know.

In the MDR. Formal and semi formal suggest, but do not require. You can wear cruise casual for all meals, shorts and shirt even on formal. Palo and Remy have strict guidelines though that must be adhered to.

im not a 'formal' dressy person. are we okay just wearing capris/shorts that night? i know my kids would rather just wear normal clothes too and will complain if i make them dress up.

More formal clothing is a suggestion

Sorry, hit send too soon in last post. Meant to say, it's only a suggestion, not a requirement, to dress up on formal night.
