Shortened FP+ return windows

OP checked for April 24. I believe she is using the website. The app is still showing hour return windows.

I played around with it. It looks like it's just certain attractions, not all.

For April 28, I selected Peter Pan, 7DMT, and space mountain. I was given Space Mt 4:25 to 5:25pm, Peter Pan 7:25 to 8:25pm, and 7DMT 9:25 to 10pm.

Still playing around with it.

For May 28th, getting hour increments for Buzz, IASM, BTMR, HM, ETWB, Dumbo, PP, Space Mt., Meet Ariel, Mad Tea Party, JC, Meet Mickey, Philharmagic, Meet Tink, 7DMT, Laugh Floor, POTC, Barn Stormer, Space and Splash mt, Speedway, Pooh, Magic Carpets.

For April 24, getting hour increments for all but 7DMT showing up for 11:10pm to midnight.

So, so far has anyone who has played around with this found a return time of less than an hour for anything other than shows (for which the return time has always been less than an hour) or for something in the last hour before park closing?

Nope. The short return window prior to park closing is new @ MK but is not in effect at DHS.

I personally have only seen it for A&E and 7DMT in the last hour before park closing.

That being the case, I think it's a good idea to wait and see what actually happens before spending much time and energy debating the pros and cons of shorter return windows.

But it's still pre-problem solving discussion which leads to creative planning.

If a guest knows they can still attempt FPs for segments of that last park hour, it does help with FP planning.

And, there are people planning to book tonight when all changes go into effect. As of last week, only full hour FP return windows could be booked.

I know why A&E FP window closes 30 minutes before park closure. It's to get the guests through the line before the end of the CMs' shifts at park closing. Entertainment has cut overtime and they don't want to pay extra for two or more face characters to stay because FP guests arrived at the end of their window.

It's odd that people have seen 30 minutes and 45 minutes and 60 minutes. I hope that they will settle on a consistent range because assigning different ranges to different rides or time periods just seems too confusing.

Confirming shorter return windows within the hour before the park closes for meet and greets. Saw 30 and 40 minute windows for Cinderella/Rapunzel.

Also, a 30-minute return window for Under the Sea - JotLM. Window opened 30 minutes before park close.

This is interesting. It kind of sounds like it will make planning even more difficult. I guess we shall see.....

I didn't do a lot of research but I didn't see any for my June dates...but I'm assuming it's bc that have not extended the hours yet.

@ArielSRL ~ if you check availability for the last hour the park is open, that's where you'll find some attractions with the shorter windows.

Basically to benefit guests who are booking their 4th or later FPs via the app.

It only is during the last hour the park is open.

It appears that all other rides and attractions, with the exception of shows and parades, continue with the hour-long return window throughout the day.

Did anyone check park hours for this day? MK is only open until 12:00 am or midnight on April 24th. So they can't offer a FP window for Seven Dwarfs at that time past midnight. In fact, didn't it use to be that they stopped issuing them when less than a full hour was available? Also, Anna and Elsa's meet and greet closes a half hour before park closing, thus the 11-11:30 window.

This is nothing new, or if it is, it's actually an increase of Fastpass availability.

Funny, I would have liked shorter windows. That would get me through our FP faster and on to the 4th sooner. I guess we are odd in that we've never needed the 1 hour window. Usually I plan to go to the first FP at the end of the window so we can move on to the next one right away. Then I'm left with time to kill before our next FP. Maybe that change will come later.

The bold is what makes this new

It is new. FPs had hour-long return windows prior to the changes.

Example: If a guest had a FP for MSEP, then they couldn't book a FP for anything after MSEP because the FP system did not issue partial-hour FP return slots. Now, if they have a FP for MSEP, guests can search for another ride. LM was showing a return window of 30 minutes prior to park close.

I don't think it's odd..I think it is just differences in family needs. What works for one family may or may not work for another :)

I don't know if you've ever tried this before, but I know I've read tons of reports here where people do exactly what you mean to on..go to 1st fp at the end of the window, then they go to fp #2 right away. Then once fp #2 is redeemed, they go on to MDE to see if they can move up their 3rd fp to a closer time period. Once the 2nd fp is used, the conflict that would normally prevent MDE from showing availability is gone, so if there is availability to move up the 3Rd fp, it will show you.

I've tried that lots of times. I have never found additional FP availability for the ride that soon. It's always several hours away.
