Short trip observations

Since buying into OKW and BCV in 2003 we have been shortening our trips based on airfare or available time. We worried about the three to four trips being too short but trips to our "Homes" at DVC have proven to be wonderful because we lovingly cram so much into the trip. Dinner at Yatchsman one night, O'Hana's the next, Rose and Crown lunches, the Flower show, etc. all make the trips so memorable. We now watch for "cheap" Southwest airfare out of Providence, RI and yes we always want to stay longer but it makes us hungry to get back. Our 19 and 20 year olds are now asking if they can come along again! They see that we're having a lot of fun without them!

For those thinking about "buying in", stop thinking about it and just do it.
There is no other place that I can "remove" myself from the hassles of life more completely than Disney World. We are there about three times a year for these short trips and do it on 210 points. I can't explain the excitement when we pass the Contemporary construction knowing that it is a DVC resort and the Hawaii DVC addition looks incredible.

I will say that we just got back from a not so great meal at the Yatchtsman Steakhouse and wrote a letter to the Yatchclub resort and Yatchsman Steakhouse manager to report our dissatisfaction in the meal and service.
I also wrote to Meg Crofton, President Walt Disney World Resort, to voice our less than great experiance.

Anyone else enjoy short trips to the World?

We always go for longer trips (7-11 days). I just can't bring myself to go for 4 or 5 days at a time. I actually am considering a 4 day weekend in October though. I haven't mentioned this to DH yet.

Your comment about the Yachtman....oh no!! This summer, we plan on dining there for our first time ever. What happened the night you were there?

Sounds great. And having an "availability snapshot" of DVC rooms online would make planning and checking airfare even easier.

Lucky you , wish we were able to do that too
flights and jet lag to loooooooooooooong

Haven't done a short one....always 1 week.

I do feel the same as you though.....WDW puts me in a frame of mind that no other place has done.
I've learned I need to be planning my next trip.....to fully enjoy the trip I am on. (So depression from leaving dosen't get too bad;) )

Almost all of our trips are short--generally four days when the kids have a few extra days off from school for Teacher Work Days. We love them!

We have taken some short trips in the past - most recently 3 days in December and have enjoyed them. But with the price of airfares rising almost daily, that will not be happening for us at least this year. Our one trip - in June - is for 8 days and that will be it for this year. But I agree, DVC is wonderful for escape and enjoyment. We love it! :goodvibes

We do short, 4-5 night trips, we have APs and when Southwest runs a Ding special like the last long week end trip for just $39 each way, hey why not.
ME gets us to the resort, APs in the parks, our DDE saves on food.

We usually get a 7-12 night trip in the summer, plus 2 or 3 long weekends, 4-5 night, each year.

Now that it's just DW and I most of the time, all those points get us more nights when you only need a studio or 1 BR.
